Witch is better... One WM8741 DAC or Two WM8740 DACs in serial of each other?

Me and a colleague had a talk yesterday about witch solution should theoretically give the best sound:

 

One Wolfson WM8741 DAC chip as in my Arcam rDAC

or...

Two Wolfson WM8740 in serial as found in the upcoming DACMagic Plus from Cambridge Audio?

 

 

Another thing, what is the benefit by putting two DACs after each other, in serial?

dual mono always beats stereo in the audio world, but don't get too hung up on the DAC chip model number as its output stage will make far more audible difference.

You cannot run them serially unless you have an ADC between because a second DAC has no way to proccess an analog signal input. you can use them in parrallel or in a push pull mode, one running the positive phase & the other running the opposit phase & the summing them in the analog domain before sening them out the analog output jack. This last way improve the signal to noise ratio somewhat but most good DACs anymore are already good enough in this respect that you will never hear the difference. It's ONLY  important in the SPECS RACE.

Well, I'd choose wm8741, selectable filter types and rolloffs ftw, great improvement over wm8740. But you are not listening to the chip only, obviously, design & components ftw, so sadly this discussion is pointless.
