So here I am back to this wonderfull community where I've decided for and found those godsent headphones. I'll try to be as concise as possible.
My system so far:
So far Asus Xonar STX (default op-amps) -> Foobar2000 -> D2000
My budget:
$300 (I can go as high as $400 with shipment included to Brazil, but only will go that high if it is really worth the difference actually if there are good options in the $200~250 price range I'll be glad to hear)
My needs:
I use the PC for gaming, working (while listening music) and moveis/series. The built in amp on the STX card hold it's ground very well for movies and games, on both scenarios I'm using 6 or 8 channels with Dolby Headphone (and Speaker Shifter for FPS games) active all the time. The problem starts when I'm listening to Lossless music (2 channels, HF profile, everything always flat and disabled), I feel like the D2000s can deliver a lot more in AQ and also they can handle more than twice the STX's amp power.
The goal:
"I want to listen Carmina Burana - Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi, Metallica - Fuel and Scorpions - Raised on Rock at 0Db and shatter every cell on my body"
Some feedback about my "audio knowledge" and music taste:
I'm a beginner at headphone audio, but I have a decent knowledge about loudspeaker design. box design, amp classes (low to no experience with tube amps), T&S parameters, sound propagation equations/rules and of course many of those concepts do apply to this new wonder world. My music taste is very ecletic my mood pretty much define the playlist. I can listen to Metallica, AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne, Led Zeppeling, Motorhead, Audioslave, Red Rot Chilli Peppers, Nirvana, Disturbed, Scorpions, Muse, Bob Marley, Maroon 5, Bloc Party, Mozart, Vivaldi, Handel, Chopin, David Guetta, Flo Rida, Jay-Z... I think those can help me to explain how ecletic I am. As far as frequencies goes... I value a lot the bass response, speed, precision and power those headphones seen to excell here, I like strong clear mids and slight recessed highs. The soundstage on the D200s for closed cans are amazing IMO.
"Special request":
I realize that 75% of my music listening comes from the PC, I need an AMP that doesn't "color" my cristal clear positional information provided while gaming and watching movies/series (are tube amps a good choice keeping that in mind?). I'm afraid that some amps might add noticeable lag, causing desync with image from games/movies, this must not happen. Actually If this amp can enhance even further this experience I'll be very glad. I'm looking for an used amp because I can get more AQ for my budget, I don't care for form factor, color, just the AQ, ability to drive well the D2000s ( and the conservation of the unit. So after some feedback here I'll be lurking the FS threads for a good deal.
Please justify your choices as much as possible, and I'll be very glad to hear about your personal experience/taste for SS or tube AMPs under my circumstances.
