The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New) - Page 422

A big special thanks to one of our members for allowing me to demo his Audeze LCD-2 for a week.

I feel quite spoilt and honoured at the same time!

Yup, apparently all new LCD-2s and 3s have had it since the beginning of the year.

I know there's been a number of impressions posted on the LCD-3 thread, you may want to search for "fazor" there.

They're quite an amazing headphone, while a darker presentation they're terribly realistic, especially at drums and instrument presentation. After plugging them in it's almost like they come 'alive' to some extend and sweep you away with a style of imaging I haven't experienced before, full of emotion. To be quite frank along with a couple of energy drinks this evening LCD-2 had me on a natural high for the last two hours accompanied by lots of goose bumps and brief body rushes. They sound very much like they look, not just sexy but very deep and meaningful.

To be honest, they poisoned me with their signature quite a lot in just two hours.

I will do that as that is the model I am interested in getting. I was thinking of going with a Stax setup but impressions of those phones are all over the board, where as the LCD 3 is only a little more money but everybody seems to love them.

FYI, when I got my LCD-2, Rev 2's a couple years ago I had been using the Stax 007mk II's with the Stax amp and I clearly preferred the LCD-2's.

Similarly, I had Stax a 007 Mk I's and a Mk II's and ended up selling both of them last year, keeping my two LCD-2s.  The LCD-2 is not necessarily better than the Omega II, but it delivers a hell of a lot more bang for the buck and it stops that never ending search for the perfect ($$$) Stax amp.

Like they did with me the time I tried them, just 2 hours to fall in love with Audeze's signature and specially LCD-2 one.

They are the reason why I stay late at night, many nights...

That's funny, when I listened to mine for the first time, I was a bit underwhelmed. Two hours later I was in love with them.

Aww shucks. You guys!

Go forth and enjoy them. After my few months with them, I couldn't help myself.

I listened to some LCD2 at a local retail store and I didn't want to leave, they sounded so good. They had them playing on a $4000 headphone amp/dac so I tempered my enthusiasm with the thought I could never in a million years afford an amp like that but they sure sounded SO good. I am haunted by that memory <G>

They don't really need a $4000 amp/dac to sound amazing.

That's right. Get a Schiit Lyr for $450, you'll be just as happy.

Or a decent speaker amp for even less (or more depending on the amp, the Emotiva Mini-X is a popular option at $219).
