The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New) - Page 417

While i haven't heard the pre-fazor lcd-2, the fazor equipped pair i have is quite holographic. Considerably more than my he-500. Imaging is on par with my hd-700, which is already exceptional in that regard, although hd700 has larger soundstage.

Anyone compared the lcd2.2 to the jh13 freqphase? I find them very very similar, more similar than my he-500s or hd700. I was suprised to find this, because i expected the jh13's to be more bright, but the treble response in particular seems to be very similar, as it is clear as a bell but not at all harsh or sibilant.

I found the LCD 2.2 to be darker than the HE500 during my quick comparison -

How do they compare now, with the fazor technology in place?

lcd2's are darker, but not much. It's really just the he-500's 9-10khz spike that makes them sound brighter, in combination with their more airy and spacious presentation. For most music i find the lcd-2 treble more enjoyable and realistic. It doesn't lack any detain despite the slightly darker treble, imo.

When I go back to my O2 from Beta 22, it sounds bloated and sounds distorted.  I guess the Beta 22 has more control over the sound.  Beta 22 is not very forward sounding I've noticed, kinda laid back.  The vocals are not as forward as the O2, but definitely much tighter sounding and clearer.  I have the LCD 2.2

I find that HE-500 and LCD-2 are pretty comparable with HE-500 sounding a bit brighter. Otherwise in my collection I could interchange them freely. I like the leather pads and mini-XLR terminals on the 2's however.

I've been off Head-Fi for a couple weeks, but is the Fazor something worth buying into or is it just another subtle change they've made with the LCD-2?

I say this because I am guilty of buying a new set of LCD-2 because I thought it was different when all they did was introduce bamboo and angled connectors lol.

Like I said in the other thread, I pre-ordered a Violectric V281, I just had a few mails with Fried from Lake People and liked a lot what he told me, I was going for the V200 but decided to wait to the V281!!

nice the v281, but a bit too expansive for my wallet, and according to the competitors

i would like to give a try to m2tech marley

balanced and se output

balanced output:

4.2 W @ 60ohm

11.5 W @ 22ohm (thinking to lcdX upgrade..)

Well, if you live in Europe the Violectric isnt that expensive :P

For the LCD-X I wouldnt worry that much about amplifier, 11,5W is too much for that X, the X varely needs the power of a Violectric V200, even less. It sounds really good out of a Ifi iCan (400mw).

Yape, I live in Canada and 1600 eur is a lot, $2400 CAD or $2200 USD. At that price I rather get Zana Deux.

On my Beta 22, vocals sounds distant.  Is LCD 2 typically have distant vocals?  What about the 3?

Distant? No, I certainly wouldn't say that, at least with my WA7. I can only speak of the current version (2.2 w/ fazor), but I find that they spatially reflect the recording pretty accurately. That is to say, if the vocals are mixed as being more spacious or further back in the mix, that's how they'll be presented. If they are mixed to sound close and up front, they'll sound very intimate.

What are you listening to that's giving you that impression?

Yea I can't imagine a setup where vocals sound distant. But mine are also rev2.2 with fazor.
