The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New) - Page 375

I think some of the upper mid-fi to high end Grado and Alessandro's still have a strong % of followers here. Not to mention the Grado's are what started most of the mods here (Magnums, various cups/gimble mods, earpad mods etc) we have today.

Going way before the kramer (ksc75) and markl Denon mods and around the same time Headphile was gathering a lot of attention with modded and woodied HP3'ks, CD3k's, Darth Donuts and Darth Boobies.

I think the HD650/K701/DT880 trio dominated Head-Fi for a little bit and then Denon came with the D2000/5000 and caused a big splash. When the LCD-2 dropped it was like a nuclear bomb, people were selling their entire collection of gear and signing off of Head-Fi forever because they had found the perfect headphone, "the one". I swear people were selling Stax Omega Mk1 set ups as crazy as that sounds. The force was strong with the LCD-2, very strong.

I chuckled at this one when I first read it on the other forum.

Should your tag line say "a really sick dude"? I mean you can be a dud if you want to, but you might rather be a dude.

So I think I just found out why my opinion of the LCD2s comfort is different than many of you...

I sent them an email to ask about it and here's what they said:

"Our ear pads have recently changed. Our LCD3 ear pads used to be more comfortable because of the foam density but now we are using the same foam in both models so they should me more comfortable. Glad to hear you are enjoying your new headphones!!"

LOL...yeah, I don't know what everyone experienced with the older pads, but these new ones are beautiful and comfy...I know there's no such thing as a headphone that everyone loves, but I think a lot of people who didn't like the pads previously would feel differently with the current pads.

It was really starting to perplex me why I found these so much different than what others were saying...figured there had to be something more to the story.

True, but I've already found a celing retention device on ebay that would attach to the hp's and render them completely weightless. Just a little modification necessary.

Something else I found interesting...I saw they included a 1/8 to 1/4 adapter, so I tried them out with my laptop last night. There was plenty of volume for surfing and farting around online, so instead of using my 1350s or Grados, I just used the LCDs for over four hours straight last night...good times!
