I mean, when you buy a leather LCD2... it obviously has a target curve (from what I've seen of the freqeuncy graphs that come with every LCD2). That includes tuning a vegan LCD2 for that response curve.

However, if you happen to own a leather LCD2, then swap the pads for vegan, the drivers weren't tuned for those pads, which may be why some people aren't getting the same bass they remembered off their leather pads.

Get it?

vegan LCD2 = good
leather LCD2 = good
leather LCD swapped with vegan pads = not as good
vegan LCD2 swapped with leather pads = not as good

This is my assumption after owning both a vegan and leather at the same time.

I used EasyQ to EQ my LCD2, the graph that was provided with the headphones is what I used as a reference chart.

I don't have big comfort issues with LCD-2s, only this 'pressure cabin' concerns me. I am afraid vegan pads might help a little, but not enough for this sole purpose.

Right, but that can all change when you actually use em every day.

I didn't swap pads myself, but was wondering if swapping the leather pads for vegan pads altered things? I assume yes, if the bass was reduced. Which is why I'm saying, a leather LCD2 swapped for vegan pads probably won't sound the same as a stock, vegan LCD2.

Are you sure Audeze tunes the drivers differently for different pads (leather vs vegan)?

I actually meant "change" for the worse.

Ups...no good!

No, that's an assumption. I assume, that due to the differences the vegan and leather pads make on sound signature, Audeze has to tune them differently to give them the LCD2 target response curve, which is why when you buy vegan pads for the leather LCD2, it won't sound the same.

Again, this is an assumption, because having compared a vegan and leather directly, the sound was basically identical, yet people are saying that the vegan pads are reducing their bass on their LCD2s.

I had initial discomfort with the vegan pads but never noticed anything really different with sound. The leather pads did provide a slightly better seal but quickly got sweaty. The vegan made my ears get hot, sweaty and sticky.
