+1. Amen to this.

I still stand by that the Magni is a great choice for the LCD2's. Regardless of price. It's very transparent and fast with a well lit top end. Not the most resolving, but neither are the LCD2's.

Its all about matching as the Magni is very transparent, depends what you feed it before it feeds the headphones. I wouldn't go off anyones opinion of this amp unless they had tried quite a few sources because it sounds different with everyone I've tried.

Some amps stamp their sound on the signal, if its a good sound then thats great, others allow you to hear your source more. Which is better? If you are happy with your source then you really want a transparent amp. If your source is lacking, too lean for e.g you may want a 'great sounding' amp that adds nice coloring.

As far as money is concerned... Its a flawed argument, simply because there is always going to be someone who prefers a cheaper component. I prefer the Arcam Rdac over the Dac1 and the Arcam is a third of the rrp. And I'm not the only one to think so. "Better" is only better in regards to personal ideology and cost is only a factor if you want it to be.

Yeah, I always find the money vs performance argument funny.  Like 99% of the world would find buying a $1000 headphone ridiculous in the first place regardless of performance.  Clearly we're into the enthusiast level here.  The only justification anyone needs for any of this stuff begins and ends with "I want it".

It's the same in any facet of life.  The more you move up the ladder things are not just about function ( Cars, watches, clothes, food, etc).

This is not a comment on whether a $3000 amp is significantly better at driving a LCD2 vs the O2, only the opinion that at this stage of the game it doesn't really matter one way or another because the answer will be totally dependent on the individuals situation.  I mean if this were a bell curve I think we'd all be sitting well into 3 standard deviations, most likely into the 4th in regards to gear/money spent.
