The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New) - Page 312

Ok.. So I got the left pad off. It was easier than I thought it would be :) Managed to attach it to the right side, with the help of a little masking tape...

UH OH! first problem. Didn't realise that I hadn't taken the right pad off.... I've only gone and taped the left pad on top of the right one. f****

Great, now I have a headphone with one massive pad on one side and none on the other...

Try again.

Right, good news :)

Got them switched over. Tools involved; A sturdy set of pliers. Some blue tack (or white will do). A damp handkerchief (don't ask). and a very large scotch.

Well, when I finally plugged them in. I couldn't believe it! Really couldn't believe it! I crapped myself!!

No really, I crapped myself.. I've had a bad stomach all day. Oh well there you go...

happy days :D

Lay off that Scotch bud. Next you're going to piggyback your LCD2 with your HD800's like ipodPJ did with his 650 and 800.biggrin.gif

 beerchug.gif If only I hadn't sold me LCD2's... snif!

I'll try it when I get my next set :)

Considering getting a pair of LCD3's and velcro'ing them to my LCD2's.  I hope it will sound like LCD5's...  beyersmile.png

Stuff the LCD2's and LCD3's. Going to buy ear straps that can handle 20kg's and strap two of my bookshelf monitors to my ears with my tube amp sitting on the top of my head and I'll make a backpack strong enough to hold a power plant power conditioner so I don't break my back, portable on the go. Now that's hi-fidelity for ya.

It is a little bit odd to invest in high-end American made headphones ... then replace the pads with Chinese ? from ebay.

The dramatic "I have a secret mod" is likely the reason people think you're a bit off.

1) genuine SR007 pads are Japanese-made, just like the headphones themselves.

2) SR007 is high-end, 2.5x more expensive than LCD2. Also the SR007 pads are about double the price of LCD2 pads.

I'm not arguing for or against any of you, but just wanna straighten the facts.

And to be clear, I don't even know if Oyster was the first, I just know you weren't.

Those are USA prices. You can get the MK2's from Japan for less than $2300 sometimes around $2k and the O2 pads for $110 or so. Audeze has updated there price for the Rosewood LCD2's to $1145 and the pads at $80 so only 2x the price if comparing headphones and less than 2x the price for pads.

By the way there is no such thing as non genuine or Made in China O2 pads all of them come from Stax.

No point bickering over the minor details, my point was to correct solserenade's wild misconceptions regarding the pads that jibzilla got.

Guys I have some amazing NEWS!!!

First off I'm a genius, probably the greatest genius to ever join head-fi.

Tonight I had this brilliant plan to replace my LCD-2 pads with Tampons from Walmart. Guess What that DID???

It improved the bass, mids, and treble, soundstage, imaging, and clarity. Now my LCD-2 sounds better than an SR-009.

I can't believe you doffers could not figure out in 3 years what took me like 1 second to figure out. I guess I can't expect you idiots to raise the level of disucssion worthy of my genius.

I think I hear the phone ringing. That's probably CNN's Anderson Cooper. He probably wants to inteview me about my discovery. Oh yeah I googled, binged, and searched everywhere to make sure I'm the first genius to figure this out. I found nothing. I'm the first genius to figure out this tampon mod. You doffers are a joke.

Signing off,

The greatest genius ever on Head-Fi,

jibzilla M-13
