For all intensive purposes, no. Measurement wise IIRC someone posted weights and they're like...less than an ounce heavier.

Wow, definite change compared to the other LCD2 graphs I've seen.

Well my LCD-2's arrived yesterday. (yay!) I'm really satisfied with the build quality and initial impressions of the sound. This is my first set of decent cans (pretty much been a IEM/CIEM user up to this point). I have to throw a shout out to Justin at HeadAmp for his great service and answering all my questions.
I'm also in the process of getting an upgraded balanced cable form Norse, so that is another thing to look forward to.
Got a couple questions, however. One is, how do you care for the leather? Just Lexol or just any type of leather soap/conditioner? Or something specific?
The other question is, most frequency charts I have seen for the LCD-2's are pretty much ruler-flat all the way up to 1k. Mine have this zig-zag in the sub-bass region. I suppose this must be within what Audeze deems acceptable, otherwise it wouldn't get sent out. But I'm just wondering if any of you have seen a FR chart like this and if it's normal. If it's anything to be concerned about or not.
Kid Approved:
Thanks...
yea that graph is different than the ones I've seen. Did you buy yours new or second hand and is it the rev 2.2 ?
If it sounds good to your ears, I wouldnt worry about it

Quote:Well, so far to be honest I am at a bit of a disadvantage to see if it sounds good to my ears. I picked these up to pair with the upcoming CEntrance Hi-Fi M8. So I have these but not the M8 yet as a proper source to drive them.
It will be at least a month before I get that so in the meantime I have to rely on an ALO Rx mkII (amp) and/or Leckerton UHA-S6 mkII (DAC/amp). Probably not the best grunt behind the LCD's to really do any critical listening. So I am kind of concerned about the graph..just not like others I've seen.....
However...these do sound fairly good, I suppose considering what I'm using. Good but not earth-shattering. I expect a bit more than what I am currently hearing once I get my source up to snuff. If that makes any sense.

If it sounds good don't worry. The treble looks ideal to me.post #4253 of 51473/21/13 at 10:01pmi dont think there is anything to be concerned about. you would not be able to pick up any differences between your lcd and another unless direct head to head comparison, and even then any difference would be so small it likely wouldn't matter
That is a great looking rosewood lcd-2 btw. would you mind getting some more photos up ?

Thanks for the input...I'm not really freaking out about it or anything, just though I would ask. If someone posted "Oh yeah my graph looks like that and mine sounds awful" ...or...."My graph looks like that and mine are amazing" it would probably affect how I feel about my new purchase in some way. So I figured I'd throw it out there in case I had a turkey.
Anyhow, my initial listening impressions (with the modest gear in hand) is that I was surprised at the balance and treble energy as opposed to what I was expecting (bassy and dark). So many say the LCD-2 is "dark" but it doesn't seem that way, if anything teetering a bit on the bright side. I am also feeling a bit light in the bass department (probably due to my anemic CIEM oriented rig) but I am sure that will thicken up when I get some wattage behind these.
These comparisons are to my Heir Audio 8.A which is a direct ear injection of really nicely done bass and a warm midrange. Those are properly driven and the LCD's not yet so my comparison is moot at this stage.
Also the LCD has maybe 5 hours on it, if that. It should open up a bit with break in, right?
And yes, I will get some pictures posted as soon as I can....! These have a real nice dark reddish color.

Graph looks about the same as what I'm seeing with my current LCD2s:

While I had mine I also couldn't understand the dark comments, to me the LCD-2s just sound really neutral. Same with the bass, it has great detail and kick but only when it's actually in the music, so I didn't find it emphasized/exaggerated at all.
Since my Heir 4.As remind me quite a bit of the LCD-2s it makes a lot of sense to me that the 8.A has more bass emphasis.

It seems as far as I can tell the "warmth" and bass aspect of these lies somewhere between the 4.A and 8.A. If you ask me, a pretty great place to be! There seems to be great detail in the LCD's as well. Good stuff. What I really find surprising is that these actually don't sound half bad plugged right into the headphone out of a Clip+ or iPod touch 5G. Of course, I am sure the LCD will scale up fantastically as my other gear rolls in, but I didn't expect a Clip to drive them. Pretty funny rig - a clip dangling off the cable. LOL
