Yeah Audeze service is quite good. They took a couple of extra days to process my order and quietly upgraded me to two day shipping to make up for it even though I never complained and wasn't bothered by the short delay. A class act all around.

hello Want to buy a LCD-2 but what is "normal" price today for them?
I have seen them on "headroom" website, they are 995 USD.
Other "officials" places where I can buy them perhaps cheaper?
I live in Switzerland.
Thanx

Strangely enough, the price is pretty much fixed at the RRP set by Audeze. I'm not entirely sure if this is because the demand is so high or because Audeze have 'set' the price in their distribution agreement.post #4207 of 51473/15/13 at 12:00am- The Monkey

Anyone know which aftermarket cable is the darkest/warmest/smoothest?. I don't expect miracles, but I'd like some added warmth. I could probably just get a tube amp for a similar price, but I'm happy with my Compass 2. I could probably just get the Wolfson chip set for a warmer sound though...
Edited by Mad Lust Envy - 3/15/13 at 4:41pmpost #4209 of 51473/15/13 at 4:22pmI dont think changing the cable from the stock is going to help you achieve a warmer sound. I would change amp or earpads. Im sure you want to stick with the vegan earpads, and if your keeping the amp, maybe try a tube DAC. or even a dac that has a reputation for being warm and musical like an hrt streamer ?

Yeah, I could probably go for a DAC, and use it with my line in which also has some warmth jumper settings for even more warmth...
But it goes against what I think DACs should achieve: transparency. Ah well.
I should probably start with the dual Wolfson WM8741 dac chips for my Compass 2 which are known to be slightly warm with extra ability to adjust digital oversampling for more subtle change in the treble range. My Compass 2 currently has the Sabre ES9018, which is know to be very neutral.

I agree. I've changed back to stock cable a couple of times and they tend to be too warm for me. I have the toxic silver poison. It is much better! but not warmer.
Vdac's are nice and fatigue free, the latest mkII has a very slight roll-off in the treble and also has good weight at the bottom.

Well, the LCD2 with leather pads don't need more warmth, I can agree. However, the Vegan is just ever so slightly clearer, and less warm. I'm trying to get these to sound more like the leather ones.post #4213 of 51473/15/13 at 5:35pm- DefQon

Any Canare or Mogami cables are going to give a very warm effect to the sound as they use copper. Anything copper will give you a warm sound.

Thanks. I was gonna get an aftermarket cable anyways, since the stock is so...ugly. The cheaper, the better. Preferably as long as stock, or longer.
Any thoughts/links? Ebay has some nice ones...post #4215 of 51473/15/13 at 5:47pm- khaine1711

Quote:Cheapest (non-DIY) while still looking decent is Headphonelounge - same sleeve I used to sleeve my .... computer rig at home. Best looking is Zeus/Qcable/Norse audio..
If you don't care about the sound/cable stufff, buy some paracord (5 bucks for 500 feet) + borrow a solder iron (free) and sleeve the stock cable yourself
