I didn't get the standard 1/4 plug that would go into the headphone jack of my Asgard amp. I bought the LCDs from a fellow Head-fi'er and it did not occur to me at all to ask for the termination plug. Instead what I have now is a 4 plug XLR and hell I don't have anything else. Any suggestions for this novice ?

Thanks

you need to buy an adapter from the aftermarket cable companies or audeze may sell them also or you need to buy another cable.

The standard cable is available from Audeze for $80. Or you may be able to buy one from a user here that has upgraded their cable and has no use for their stock one any longer.

thanks for the responses. Any recommendations you have in terms of updated adapters/cables would be highly welcome. I live in India and need to do this as infrequently as possible.

I have some of the standard 1/4" cables as well, as some people have asked me to ship the LCD-2 with the balanced cable instead ;)

Its time I got up to speed on the cable side of things. So I'll ask the dumb question: How do I terminate the 4 pin male XLR that I have now into a 1/4in adapter ?

Thanks

Un screw the connector, pull the pin assembly out of the shell and push up the shroud. Look at a wiring diagram and desolder one wire at a time, label or mark them if you have to, and then solder onto your TRS plug.

You'd be switching the fully balanced 4-channel wiring to a common ground and then individual L/R.

Koth,

I'm sure since your LCD 2.2 can't be used for a few weeks, we could have probably worked something out.  Possibly 3 pair of leather ear pads for the LCD 2.2?  Then, you could re-buy another pair of LCD 2.2 that has the proper cable for you.

Never fear to ask me in the future to arrange such a transaction for you.  I'm always willing to transact where I'll benefit greatly in the end.  biggrin.gif

Just double checking balanced cables. 1-4 pins represent 2 ground and other 2 for the separate channel signals. Which is which? (4 Pin XLR).

Pin layout is:

1 - left channel +
2 - left channel -
3 - right channel +
4 - right channel -

Cheers Paradoxper. Would it be a big deal if I had two of the channel grounds mixed up in reverse so right channel will be using left channel ground? I think I made this mistake with my cables which sound fine all this time of usage, since it shouldn't make a big difference due to each channel being completely isolated....

I don't think it exactly should matter considering there's not an official pinout standard. I guess I'd have to wonder why you do it that way though.
