I used to use toilet paper on the drivers of my 650's instead of the all the foam they use. I also use it to wipe my R..s1's when they get too sweaty

I just got my Toxic cable from Frank today.
If anybody is wondering if it's worth upgrading from the stock cable, it's definitely worth it.
From what I have heard so far, the music is more clear and has a more precise feel to it. I have swapped back and forth between them and there is a very clear difference between the two.

Quote:The sound is a lot more clear and crisp. Everything sounds more precise. The background in the music also feels a lot more black.
It's also pretty and shiny!

I'd say that the sound is fuller with a sharper image. I have a very early toxic venom and is similar to the silver poison now. I do think the LCD2's benefit from a little silver over the stock. Having said that I don't think the stock is bad, but a good upgrade cable will give you an improvement imo.

I don't know how you all do it. This headphone gives me "Inner-head Audio Claustrophobia" aka there's absolutely zero width to the soundstage and hardly any depth either. After several songs, I start to develop a pain in my jaw. This pain makes for an uncomfortable experience and I would rather listen to my HiFi's.

I have no problem wearing them for 3 hours at a time. I don't get all the fuss about them being extremely uncomfortable. They may not be as good comfort wise as the Denons or Sennheiser HD650, but they aren't that bad.

When I compared the soundstage of the LCD2 to that of the HD800 with the same rig and recordings, I found that the LCD2 actually had a wider soundstage, but the HD800 has much more depth to it so more of a 3D presentation. For myself the LCD2 was pretty faithful to the soundstage offered by the recording, but does not enhance it like the HD800 does.
edit: I've never heard an LCD2 rev.2 though, so perhaps there's a difference.

But I will say this, for live recordings, the LCD2v2 is simply fantastic. Nothing but praises in this department from me. I've got the Metallica - Live at Grimey's LP playing and I really feel like I'm THERE, watching the concert, inside of a small pub-style venue, filled to the brim with cigarette smoke as these guys put on a show in front of a 60-100 person crowd. Truly a sight to experience. The HE-500's can't touch them on this Live LP.
I've never been a big fan of Live recordings as they never sounded 'right' to my ears, and sounded like a poorly recorded studio album. The LCD2 "cramped" / "intimate" soundstage is a perfect fit. Does anyone know if the LCD2v1's or the LCD3's retain the same intimate sound?

ps. For better comfort, I did push the pads to the back of my head, so that the front of the pads almost touch the front of my ears -- and sit further behind my jaw line, while the curved pad overhangs behind my ears.
