Newbie looking to buy a new DAP. - Page 2

Cables do not improve SQ and can't even possibly do so given the laws of reality (physics). This is why blind tested no one can tell the difference over and over ad infinitum. But that's off topic and covered on many forums, just google around and research for yourself, if you must. There's really no reason to, thinking cables matter is like believing that gravity does not exist, the level of certainty is exactly the same. One can, of course, believe otherwise and spend otherwise, and that is their right, but there is no rational reason at all to do so.

Just buy a Sansa something and you'll be happy. The Nationite or Cube might sound slightly better (I haven't compared the two, let alone blind, so I wouldn't know), but all my Sansa's sound perfectly fine, almost as good as my Cowon D2 when tested blind in fact. I'm happy using any for cycling, especially the Clip, because, well, it Clips! (Ultimate portability).

cube sounds much better and thats from directly comparing the 2, clip is by no means a bad player though.

Cables do improve sq, not in regards to material etc but in regards to what type of cable is used, ie lod on and ipod sounds better than a male to male into an amp, i get what your saying but the op was generalising and i took issue with his tone.

How does the fuze v1 v2 and + compare? There is zero discernable ifference between high bitrate mp3 and lossless codecs, so is rockboxing really necessary? How do the fuzes compare to large quantity hard drive players like the zune ipod and archos in terms of sound quality? In case I get a new zune or an iPod classic I plan on using available hacks and mods to allow me to use non-proprietary software for synching.
