Can't really give any thought until you open it up! Need to know what is actually in there. And of course the pricing.

I'm liking external implementation more and more.

I agree with you there.  This is early information but the specs are looking good and the feature set seem to have what many are looking for in an external source.  When I receive info/pics on the internal circuitry I will update the thread for those interested.

I received a few emails concerning the power requirements of headphones and how this unit would be generating the required power some want/need for their cans?

I checked into it for you guys and It seems this device will also be furnished with a proprietary cable, that allows logic/signal through the USB and external power to be piped in to give the unit more power for those that need it. 

 

Hope that answers the question for those interested.
