Django!

No one has recommended Django Reinhardt yet? I am disappointed in all of you. frown.gif

Also Joe Pass and Wes Montogomery.

Though not jazz, get some Leo Kottke. Trust me.

And rent Woody Allen's "Sweet and Low Down."

It'll probably draw a lot of heat from Jazz fans, but I've really enjoyed former Tonight Snow band leader Kevin Eubanks' solo albums. I wasn't even familiar he had a few decades worth of releases until he played a show at one of the colleges around here and really blew me away with his playing. Not a great tv sidekick but def. a great guitarist.

And that thumb! Makes me think of Wes, who just happens to be playing in my Senns right now. Early Sunday AM, good cup-o-joe, Wes playing. Life is good. happy_face1.gif

Totally understandable.  Smooth jazzer Norman Brown is a phenomenal guitarist I once saw live.  There is very little difference in talent between smooth jazz musicians from straigh-ahead other than the genre they play, where smooth jazzers lean on the commercial side to actually try to make a living playing music.  But now even that genre is dying out.
