Tool and what else?

I Listen to Tool often.  To me they are just in another league but I am not a music aficionado ( I know what I like though). Any other artist/band that comes close to or exceeds their sheer power and soul sucking emotional sound.

Tool, after finding Gore and Coroner I pretty much lost interest in Tool. I would even prefer the Editors for some reason.

If you do not mind a gamble try The Verve's album "A Nothern Soul". If the track "History" does not get to you I do not know what will.

Also consider the old Blues and Country if you want some raw emotion. Lauryn Hill's story on "The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill" is also quite gripping.

If complexity is your thing King Crimson, ELP etcetera...

I'm afraid there is no other band like Tool. You can find harder, faster stuff, but not better.

How about something close?  I also enjoy Rage Against the Machine they have a similar affect on my psyche.....

Very hard question as Tool is pretty unique.  For soul sucking emotional sound, I'd recommend Nine Inch Nails. (Start with "The Downward Spiral")  For power, I'd recommend the Deftones. (Start with "Around the Fur".)  I mention these two bands, in part, because they have both worked with Tool or at least members of Tool in the past.

Pretty much impossible to find something exactly like Tool in sound, but post-metal bands like Isis, Neurosis, Pelican, etc do share some similarities:
Id also definitely check out Melvins and other Sludge metal acts:

Maybe give Riverside a listen?

Haven't found anything quite like Tool, but try checking out Isis' Wavering Radiant (and Oceanic and Panopticon if you want something more guttural and atmospheric).

Give that a try. Not exact but still nice.

Why not Opeth, Agalloch, Deftones, even better RUSH!

You should check out Oceansize.  Listen to the  "Music For Nurses" EP to start... probably the most accessible stuff they have.
