iPod Touch 4 - 64GB with Equalizer: The verdict

Best SQ on the go I have ever experienced in so many years and with no less than 30 players of all kinds and makes.

Downside is: a bit distortion with some recordings is INEVITABLE but you can manage. The Equalizer stops all of a sudden sometimes and the EQ setting goes back to flat (this is VERY annoying). Trying to fast-forward or to rewind a track while playing sometimes causes jitters in palying and varying speeds of the track and it JUST WON'T stop, so you have to switch the iPod off and restart--of course, the settings will be back to flat in this case too.

The crystal clear high frequencies and incredible lows and the awesome control, not mentioning the vast depth of sound and ability to drive headphones of different types and makes--all these make listening to the music a real joy despite the awkwardness and the need to enhance the EQ software.

Yeah, the app is pretty finicky at times, but it's very excellent. I tend to just queue things up, and leave it be. Also, if you don't stay on the screen of the app, it'll lose your spot in the song.

I have used it for a long time.

There have a been a few (minimal) times of the app quitting.

When I first started it I EQ`ed the hell out of it because I had a collection of poor quality mp3 mixed with medium and high quality recordings. Now I only have ALAC and FLAC (using flacplayer app) on my iPod.

My main iPod touch 4G with current software has mainly FLAC in rotation on it, with my favorite songs in several ALAC playlists.

I swap around depending on whether I am in a quiet place, the train(FLACplayer) or fatigued(equalizer app with high slight rolloff).
