Should I use old macbook (OS Tiger 10.4) as music server

Hi all,

I have been listening to digital audio at work via iTunes played from my MacBook Pro (OS Snow Leopard 10.6) straight to my Panasonic RP HTF600S Monitors (no DAC, no amp).  I'd like to take the heat off my lap and run iTunes from an old unused MacBook running OS Tiger 10.4 (i.e., use the old macbook for music, my newer macbook for work).  Can I expect the sound quality to be reasonably unchanged with this switch?  I've no clue about sound cards are whatever else might factor into the answer, which is why I'm asking here.

My frugality should be able to tolerate the forthcoming Fiio E10.  No doubt I'll experience better SQ.  Still not sure if the Tiger OS will be an obstacle.
