There have been some great "djent" styled releases in the past year or so but for me, nothing as interesting (and addictive) as Tesseract.

Think Katatonia and Meshuggah coming together to do a progressive, tech-metal album-would be the easiest/laymen way to describe it. That said, when listening to this album and experiencing the lead singer's range, you get the sense this is just the tip of the iceberg regarding what he is capable of doing vocally.

 

A really heavy, yet beautiful album. Highly recommended.
