I just hope that HiFiMAN isn't the first to do that.  I'd have to hire rhythmdevils to punch their treble in the face.  (The HiFiMAN orthos have too much treble, especially cymbals, for me)

It would be a chance to possibly get some "wow" style swim around the head soundstage from an ortho.  The big difficulty is that a design like that would be an ergonomic disaster with a big heavy ortho driver at the front of some big cups pulling the headphones down.

I've never heard a Stax Sigma.  It's on my "I hope I get to hear it sometime" list.  Could be quite interesting for headphone sound.

I am definietly hoping that its going to be some nice small speakers maybe some competition for the fabulous magnepan mini maggie system. I would'nt mind an LCD-3 if its absolutely fabulous, but think that would be kinda mean to customers, considering some people have just a few months ago taken great pains to get the very recent LCD-2.2

From RMAF site re Audeze exhibit

We will be exhibiting our Planar Magnetic Headphones and Full Range Planar Magnetic Speakers at the Rocky Mountain Audio Festival

Planar Magnetic Transducers provide uncompromised high resolution sound suitable for the most demanding High-End home or professional applications
.

The speakers and microphone new products by Audeze are in the public domain but  just wondering what Audeze is hiding about the HPs.

I REALLY hope they don't release a successor to the LCD-2 r.2... I'm all for progression, but that would be a slap in the face.

Nothing new. Just showing them off :P.

They are probably better off adding a cheaper version of the LCD-2 or a more a expensive updated version.  They don't alienate current customers and they expand their market reach.

naa..they are better served playing in the high end. Don't need to peddle to the masses by sacrificing performance.  They have established themselves are a serious player int he high end and hope they only aim upwards.

Try the HE-500s.  The HE-6s are a bit bright at the top end, but there are ways around that, too.

Yeah, I need to try the HE-500.  I've only heard the HE5 and HE6.  Both had treble that didn't agree with me.  It seems that HiFiMAN is starting from too much treble and gradually lowering it as they evolve their headphones.  While Audeze is starting from too little treble and gradually raising it as they evolve their headphones.  Eventually they'll converge upon the ideal treble.  Maybe the HE-500 is that ideal treble for me, or at least closer.  For now I've got the LCD-2 r2, which I consider slightly soft in the treble.  Slightly soft in the treble is a preferable sin to me than slightly too much.

Fair enough Sachu.

Mostly, I just hope they stick to 1,000 priceline or less. I would lose a lot of respect for them if this product (If a headphone) is more than 1,000. Personally, I'm absolutely sick of seeing what other manufacturers are doing and respected Audez'e for maintaining a price that - while expensive, is still attainable for the masses.

If it's speakeres(!) then HERE HERE! Mission accomplished!

i hope for the closed version.

the soundstage is not important for me

Hasn't Magnepan been making excellent Magneplanar speakers for like 40 years? They're very similar in construction and I kinda view the LCDs as Magnepan headphones. But Audeze may not be going the printed coil on stretched film route.......we'll see.

Remember the LCD-2s started at $650.

That was probably a Direct end user price. Once Audeze had to go thru the distribution channel (dealers) the price had to go up.
