Hmmm...a new pair of Audeze ortho speakers in my living room would be killer. Obviously I'm just guessing (and hoping) here, but I would be very tempted to pick up a pair.

Ok guys I got the scoop on this from Alex and Sankar: Audeze is teaming up with Dave Brubeck and releasing their own celebrity endorsed headphone, called "Heart beats with Mr. Dave - Arrhythmia."

Guys, what price range do you think Audeze planar speakers will be at? Would this mean a mega watt amp to power those as well?

I can't imagine them being cheaper than their headphones.   I actually think headphones might require more R&D and be a more difficult thing to make well than speakers because of all the small enclosed spaces in headphones.  (it seems much easier to DIY speakers with available drivers than headphones)  And R&D is more expensive than the materials used, but as far as perceived value, speakers seem so much more substantial in terms of materials cost, so it would be easy to price them higher.

I've always hoped that Audeze would do this as I think they'd sound excellent.  They wouldn't roll off so quickly in the bass like the original Sigma and they'd be able to get a nice soundstage out of an ortho driver.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that one of the manufacturers out there adopts the Sigma concept.
