most comfortable IEM with top tier sound ???? - Page 2

Really?  Even with the largest size?  The only other tips that I've tried successfully were the UE silicon tips.  PM me and I'll send you some (never used).

I‘ve owned many IEMs and it's safe for me to say that Westone ES5 easily blows most universal IEMs out of water (SE535, TF10, ER4, EX1000, W4 and UM3X) both in SQ and in comfort level. Of course they are pricy... But you get what you paid for. It definitely ends my pursuit for ultimate IEMs.

I agree that the ES5 likely trumps most if not all universal IEM's.  However, the OP wanted IEM without deep insertion.  Any custom IEM will violate the request.

Sorry my bad. In this case, I would suggest Sennheiser OMX/CX 980, Sony MDR-E888 or B&O A8. They are all very comfortable without going deep into the ear canal.

I've wondered about that. It always seemed like customs would require a deep insertion. People always complain about etymotic's deep insertion but I seldom hear complaints from those who get customs. They must just know what they're in for.

Yeah.  The closet to customs are my two universal reshells.  Both were had deep insertions, but because it was molded to my ear and was made out of acrylic material, it felt much more natural and tolerable over the rubber/silicon flanges, which for me just felt too weird - more so when taking it out and the flange wings invert as it exits (bad description, I know).

The Sony are not that comfortable at all. Their weight is too high and the cable over the ears is stiff.

I also think the FX700 are comfortable, but they have a (well-rounded) large body which creates some pressure after three hours with my ears. Haven't tried the Senns.

The most comfortable IEM ever has to be the Westone 4 (or other Westones). It is so extremely light-weight and you don't feel the cable at all. Sleeping on the side with the Westone is no problem either.

Other than that, I think the HJE900 are extremely comfortable too. They are very small and the body just feels nice. The venting holes help if you have problems with air pressure.
