Do not like iems that are deep into my Ear canal.  My ears seem to get irritated.  Oh yea they need to sound great too and must be easy to drive sans amp.

Thanks

Grado GR10, Westone UM3X, and Klipsch Custom 3 are my top three most comfortable. All are easy to drive, sound superb with shallow insertion, and don't require the use of ear-raping tips like the infamous triple flange on the Etymotic ER4x.

Sony EX1000, EX7550, EX600, Sennheiser IE8, JVC FX700 are very comfortable IEMs because they all stay in outer ear.

^Agree on the last two ,which I've owned. However, if isolation is one of the OP's criteria, both, including the Sony line (from what I've read) may not fit the bill.

GR07 has great comfort and decent isolation and in my opinion is a top level sound as well.

The Klipsch IEMs are extremely comfortable because they are tiny.  The Hifiman RE-0's are also very comfortable and work great with shallow insertion.  I'd also say that they have top tier sound, despite their reasonable price.

GR8 are on the way

Thanks

I want to try the sein I8 as well but not a fan of their sound signature.  I've had the 800 and 650 but they were not for me do the iems share the same sound signature as the flagships from Grado & sein?

Congrats on choosing the GR8.  You're really not missing much from the GR10 especially when price comes into play.

The Grado fullsize headphones has bright, warm, wood soundsignature and IEMs does not sound same but share most parts of there house soundsignature.

UM3x is hands down the most comfortable universal IEM ive tried/owned and because of that it gets a great seal and isolates the best out of the universals as well.

Cool Grados got me started in this hobby.  Running a pair of SR60's from a sony cd-man.  I thought it could not get any better.  Since than I have owned the SR80's RS-1's & PS-1's.  Their sound signature seems to work well with rock.  Hope these will be similar in sound and suitable for Rock & Rap.

Arrg having buyers remorse already.   It looks like the R8's are not the easiest to drive...

Although an amp can bring out some subtleties, the GR8 sounds good unamped. Try it first, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Yes pleasantly surprised.  Very nice sound. Easy to drive.  Night and day between my yuin pk-1  I left my big portable rig home today.  My only complaint is they seem to slip out of my ears while working out.  Any recommendations on after market tips?
