Bose AE2(OE2?) vs ATH M50. Which one is best for mid and treble(e.g. violin)

First of all, I rarely come to head-fi, so I am relatively new around here.

Head fi has also helped me donate $138 to Audio Technica with ATH CKS77.

Now, I want to buy a pair of good headphones for mids.

I have narrowed down to these choices. Which one is best for mids and treble. Bass isn't the highest priority because my in ear(audio tech) is really powerful enough. I wanted to buy treble headphones because I got sick of bass and I listen to classical music a lot.

Price is the biggest concern here. Price in the US is really low. But here in Singapore its ridiculously high..

. ATH M50 cost $238 and Bose AE2 cost $229 (www.stereo.com.sg

I know that BOSE is generally disliked around here. I don't really mind paying for brand and comfort. I heard that the AE2's treble is good while the ATH M50 is recessed. I chose the M50 because its highly recommended around here and my friend has it. I would try to avoid choosing the option of the ATH M50 because I dont really want to get the same thing as my friend.

For portability, its just a minor concern. I usually use my headphones at home.

Some one please help me shed some light on these two headphones as I can't seem to choose between the two

Priorities:

1)Sound (mids and treble)

2)Price(I am poor :(   )

3)Convenience

How do their mids compare?

Are you fixed on only those two options? I have found my M50s to not be very good for most classical. I would look for something from AKG, maybe AKG K 240 Studio? Only $99 US (not sure about your price in singapore) and you won't find a comfier set of cans anywhere really. You also don't need an amp. Another option might be audio technica AD700 or AD900 if you want some bass, but they cost more than ad700. The M50 has a very small soundstage and I think that's the reason most classical sounds cramped.

I choose Denon D2000 or D1100 for your budget...better Transparency and Resolution.

Or the Ultrasones Pro 700 MK2

The Sony V900HD actually have brilliant mids for the price ~ $160. Quality bass, but not much impact. Nice clear extended highs.

Edit: Be careful of fakes. Buy from B&H

Looking at prices and what they have at the site you shared, maybe the AudioTechnica Ad-700? Should have good treble, and enough soundstage for classical.

edit- I forgot - no open headphones...

Maybe the Closed A700's then?

How does the a700 compare to the m50. Plus anyone please get back to the topic of Bose vs m50 . Plus my budget is below 250 sgd. I prefer classical. Do not include sound staging. I just want the violin piano vocals to shine that's all. Bose looks good though.

In Singapore, the 702 will cost him more than $500. See the link he posted to the shop he is using for an idea of pricing.

Also, he stated no open cans.

Yes, they'll be just fine.

Can you audition these anywhere?
