Best book to learn DIY electronics from.

Fellow DIY headfiers, do you have any recommended books to learn basic electronics from?  Nothing too technical, just enough to understand how components (resistors, capacitors, etc..) works, and how to measure and test each.  I found a book, link below.  Just wondering if there are better ones out there.

I've been working my way through Make: Electronics by Charles Platt. Everything's well explained in a nice linear manner. Recommended.

Don't forget the US Navy NEETS modules.

Available at a couple of places, here are two:

These are delivered as PDF files, which, makes them a bit easier for off-line or tablet viewing.

Does the make electronics one cover a lot of stuff from the basic to reasonably complex things?

Yes, it starts with simple explanations of electricity, voltage and amperage, then works up from there.
