I wonder if it's a home-made jack. It looks great.

I have to assume they were all new series. hanging off the racks in January.

My parents don't want me spending a ton of money on any single pair of cans that I'm going to take places... So 40-140$. I think I'm going to buy all of the best ones you guys can think of in that price range. I'm going to buy the 77's first, but after that, what cans are pretty good? They don't all have to be basshead cans. Just sound nice. I have my eye on ath m20x's. Are they good? Or Sony v6. I need a pair for studio work. I don't really want any treble or mids emphasized cans. That much treble or mids would give me a headache. I just need a flat response, and some V shaped response, or bass cans. I think I could probably get 4-6 cans... Or I could convince my parents I take care of my stuff and get 1-2 pairs of 400$-600$ cans along with the e12 amp and the 77's. My dad thinks all kids are punk thieving drug smoking crack addicts. So for now, just suggest the lower end cans to me and tell me what they are good for. I'd like to hear an opinion about them from my fellow bassheads before I go read a biased review by an "Audiophile" and try to see past their garbage and look at the facts.

The thing about America is the closest thing we have to a headphone shop is a supermarket... And those DO NOT have good cans. I went there, and the three display wall cans were Beats, Bose, and skullcandy. That's it. Otherwise the other celebrity endorsed cans were on the shelves on the top two rows, and below that they had ear buds galore, and on the last row they had Sony, JVC, and another can type I haven't heard of anywhere. No audio technicas, no sennheiser... Nothing. That's it. Three non endorsed companies... At least in the states... Plus you can't plug in your own music to try out the cans on the walls. You had to listen to pre recorded A-Pop, classical, or modern rock. All three types of music I like to stay away from... WHY CANT THERE BE MORE AUDIO SHOPS SO I WOULDNT HAVE TO GO TO SUPERMARKETS IN THE STATES????... frown.gif

Audio technica ATH-M50 are pretty flat/neutral to my ears.

ALERT!!

The dido use 40mm drivers and are tuned out of the box with a Beats studio type curve so they sound very loud and bassy/vibrating but they won't take boost and better than any other pre tuned low end cans. they all suffer this particularly 40mm drivers. Souls, Beats SMS...most celebrity endorsed pre bassed 40 mm cans are pushing the edge of their ability right out the box as far as low end extension. gelocks knows these better than me but the pre-tuned drivers at that freq and of 40mm size have little room for additional boosting of lows.

I'm fairly sure that those 40mm drivers are the same exact Fostex drivers being used in the D7000's -- the ones you wanted to steal from Oregonian.

;)

I think they may not be tuned with a mini amp chip/cicuit though....??...say it ain't so:(

I merely wanted to liberate them from the oppressive Oregonion regime.:D

Absolutely agree....I often wish that my landlord would just boot me out, then I live in the bush as a survivalist, but it's OK because I know how to float my entire rig on car batteries and can listen to my headphones by the lake as I fish for food.

That or just get myself busted robbing a bank, get sent to prison and wreak havoc on prisoners and guards - still get square meals and don't have to worry about rent!  Or the bank.

Prison sucks. The horror and misery are highly underrated.  Being paranoid and scared (it's a great survival mechanism...fear) all the time about everything around everybody.

Stay free.

Stop spending 1000+ on cans so you don't have to go McGyver :D...how you gonna charge your rig on a boat made of car batteries....I didn't see all the McGyver episodes??:(

I think I bought 7 pairs of headphones in 20 days?

My students are taking entrance tests and suffering from viral spreading influenza so I went to a Hi-Fi shop and my jaded miserable but got surprised. @gelocks ...I am on board with the Yamaha 500 but not dido but I agree with you more than not....I ordered a pair you owned (not the same ones) I didn't know till checking this site AFTER hearing these.

KA-BOOOM

I was gonna buy the new Beats Pro but something happened to the Beats pro??? They caved to the masses and adjusted the response curve??? I know they really changed the studio but the Pro's??

I got a pair 3 years ago  but they are ...they have been to BBQ beach parties and stuff...kinda ragged and nasty and my studios always hit harder (that spike...Pros have a slope) .

I listened to a set and the guy let me amp them...he seriously seemed like he could give a **** so i played my test track and wham....wham...WHAM.

The only ones were the display ones so i ordered mine today. This is it for me till Fall ...seriously:rolleyes:

Lolz.  It's an electrical term when you 'float' something as in not tied to the grid, not actually float it out to sea!  I'm a land based creature anyway and my 4wd would give me all the powah I need, anyway when it comes to swimming I imagine myself like this:
