The Basshead Club - Page 637

I let a 13 year old Japanese girl listen to my 77's

(She's a student)

Now she's a headphone junkie and this was her diary...notice the closing line.

I'm sorry God:D

Anyway Ultrasone is......well.....today is warmer than I expected. I think I may BBQ this weekend;)

Haha, well ultrasones arent for everyone.

Have you considered eqing the treble down?

its just the beyer house bass is not my favorite and I havent had one that was ideal regardless of quantity. Not saying they all totally sucked either.
Well after all we all have different tastes and opinions and I respect yours. I suggest you give the dt880 a listen. It's the least bassy of the bunch, and IMO the most balanced/neutral Beyer have ever made. Maybe it will change your mind about how Beyers sound dt880smile.png

Signature Pro not 900 pro. My mistake. They got a lot of names.:(

They cost 110,000 yen. I was irked because the Akai had a early reservation and I reserved on the 23rd and I was sure for about an hour that the site which said it had a mock site pretending to be it "Fujiya-Avic" was messin with me. I canceled and went to a shop in Hiroshima on the 24th. Threw down a grand and knew in 3 hours I had ****ed myself.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-qA0KHYTf8

1st. They are plastic. The cups were like the 580's I had but a bit bigger but not much. Not enough to generate titanic bass hits. IMO

2nd.They are over 1000 bucks and were plastic. Everybody hates the Beats Pro but those things have been abused and slam harder than these things.

3rd. My chick was with me this whole time and she was utterly confused that I had bought like 5 pairs of headphones in a week. She thought I was having a meltdown which I wasn't until telling her these were going back and i was gonna eat the unboxing fee of 30%...30% ....of 1000 dollars. To say we fought would be wrong. I got pummeled. I was NOT a member of the Hi-Fi club and it cost me to learn that and it was in front of my chick who I get on about her handbags,shoes...etc etc.

I run my own business so money isn't the point it was holding a pair of cans that didn't give me what i want and i knew it when i bought em but did it anyway.

I threw 200+ bucks out the window...got a credit at a store because my amp rig that i wear. He thinks I damaged the drivers. They did distort but ...they are ...they are very expensive 580's with maybe +5 dB near 50Hz...maybe? I will now be taking her to Vietnam because she really wants to go there and I'm over a barrel making **** up to her because I took her with me which was the biggest of all the mistakes. If I had flushed money by myself I'd get over it...her knowing and watching me lose my mind ...that is worse than the money.

Oh....and money can't buy you BASS.

I got the AKAI despite the cancelation... re order and they gave me a 100% cash refund offer if I fill out a questionaire.

This all got started because I got freaked by a warning on the bottom of a web page.....and I had headphone fever.

This site is a like a bad drug.

My JVC are good drugs......like moonshine...you folks drink that Cristal....it tastes the same as moonshine to me.

Question: has anyone tried Phillips' O'Neil headphone lineup (specifically the Phillips O'Neil Crash) ? These are the flagship of their O'Neil series. Their MSRP is $300 but I found an excellent deal on them for $80 at a nearby electronics store.

Signature Pro was never meant to deliver a lot of bass, the Signature Pro was more marketed for studio monitoring use while their Signature DJ was targeted for DJ use with emphasized bass.

Ultrasone Signature Pro:

Ultrasone Signature DJ:

The DJs are significantly cheaper too. Bass quantity and impact isn't a top priority in $1000+ cans, mostly in the bottom since pretty much no1 buying $1000 are looking for that either. Already for $50 you can probably produce the strongest most impactful bass possible, it's not a desirable thing for most customers to pay for and it's quite easy to achieve manufacturing wise. Quality on the other hand is always trickier.

Would the 55's sound better dampened? And if they do, what material works best?

You should probably have checked Signature Pro's info before buying them... they were not voiced to be basshead headphones.

Not all headphones are going to be "basshead" cans no matter how much you EQ... and no, it doesn't matter if they have 100mm drivers.

I think you need this but with a stronger mechanism for your bangs and all that...

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 90

AND STOP BLOWING UP DRIVERS!!!!! :p

P.S.

I bought the 1000 dollar Sig Pro's.

Worst 2 hours of my Headphone life. Watching Q40 have an anomalous fail was easy because they were cheap and clearly dissolved but the Ultrasone cost much much much more and my view into the 1k + headphone world is done. It cost me 250 bucks to be in that zone but the build and sound made me never ever wanna go back. Placebo, group think....I zombied out for a couple hours...never again.

word up!!!

Hawaii bad boy, so the signature pros had really bad treble??

The pro 900's have bad treble from what i have heard, but also some of the biggest bass.

After an experience like THAT though.... I would understand if u were done xD

@RPGWiZaRD

Your speaking reasonably and with common sense...I had very little of that. Nothing in the Ultrasone series deserves "Thunderous" assigned to them in my opinion.

Now...the most expensive ones he had and actually the ones that sounded silky smooth and deep were those FOSTEX with the big ass cherry cups. I use my stuff portable so they look like sitting next to the fireplace on a tube amp type cans but my oh my they sounded smooth in the deep.

You wanna know what sounded better than those 1000 dollar cans? The AKAI.  They are built better too. I will own these Akai till I die. They are absolutely gorgeous. Not a touch of plastic anywhere...maybe in the cups but externally they are beautiful. If you took a person who never owned headphones and gave them the Akai and 1000 dollar Ultrasones most would probably incorrectly judge which were the more expensive. The FOSTEX have wood cups and ooze hand craftsmanship too but the Ultrasone are ....not getting anymore comment. I hate when folks hate so I will stop and just say I'm gonna stay away from Ultrasone but may look into FOSTEX th900's when I start listening to music off a tube amp.

@gelocks

I figured such expensive cans had the will...I just had to find the way....nope...no way. They started to implode right where my JVC explode. (if the e12 is laying on it's belly ...6pm...that white dot)  Coming from Car audio you can make average sound outstanding with proper ported boxes, soldered connects and materials but with headphone drivers this stuff is tuned in the factory with not much room. Seems cheaper cans are more flexible than expensive ones.

When you hit a nails head for 100 bucks it seems natural that a larger amount of cash will get you a better hammer. No. When a company calls something extreme...and explosive they are not kidding. I am going to buy another set because if they stop making them for some reason I want a back-up pair. What a ridiculous childish head slamming ear damaging piece of awesomeness they are.

I'm testing the speed of the bass like they did with my cars subs......man this is a good tune :D

This is all personal opinion.

The highs were tamer than the 580 and the others seem to have a unique sound because of that shield or S-Logic. That company will do just fine without me loving them:D

The Denon have a sound most like what i like it seems?

I was dumb. That's not on Ultrasone it's on me but the pricing ...mystifies me? I shoulda known....now I do.
