Around here, Beats, Sol and Bose aren't held in the highest regards - check your sources.

We are a friendly community, we discuss things happily - if you have questions, ask away! There is an answer for everything, and we love to give advice.

Interesting proposal! Even something with a decent driver size, made from nice materials, with useful accessories.. You might be onto something here. I think @Hawaiibadboy was saying something similar a while back - yearning for JVC to make something crazy?

Even so called "Audio Experts" fall prey to this quite often. I show people my JVC's at school, and those who haven't tried them with there beats and other 200-400$ headphones say "Since Jvc is cheap and I don't see a lot of them, they must be a pretty crappy offbrand!!". I'm just saying, JVC should release a sleek, stylish, new smaller pair of headphones that costs about 200-500$, is built out of steel or some durable material, and blows away 800-1200$ brands in every aspect. Really target the imagination of the audiophile group, and then the masses soon follow.

Marketing.

BTW if you change the size of the 77 you change the sound.

Nobody in here will respond if they think you can't see past your own preferrence.

I sat and stared at my Beats and JVC many times wondering what in the world was going on? Unlike most points relating to Hi-Fi which is subjective in many ways and that's fine. A loud thump on your head superior to other thumps you have felt (Beats series for most)  seems to lean towards the objective. You can physically feel it.

I know why most don't care for that because they have stated so. Why do thump junkies not all own a pair of these for fun and to laugh at their friends with Celebrity endorsed cans (they would be implying they like the thump)...I do not know? For the price and for the niche' of Hip Hop they should be owned.

"Sub impact refferrence cans"....That sounds all official and stuff:D

Yes I know beats, sol republic and Bose are crap, but they market correctly to the right audiences. I never said they were held in high regard.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guarantee that less than 5% of the entire forum doubts jvc.

Yeah, I'd put my money on those odds. I've heard nothing but good things, from memory.

Have you heard bad things in comparison to 300$+ brands? I have. And I've found that all haters have never tried JVC.

What is your fixation on JVC? If you want a $200-$500 Headphone that fits you're criteria, then go find one. Why does it matter what brand it is?

The $200-$300 range is like the most competitive price range, right below the $50-$150 budget range. Even if JVC makes something good I doubt it'll be earthshattering.. Also aren't we forgetting about the DX1000 or the SZ2000? They've made higher-tier products before.

JVC just suffers from the problem of not being as well known as many of the other brands (imho). Head-fi members frequently talk about sennheiser, beyerdynamic, koss, etc but the only place where I've seen JVC been mentioned to a large degree is this thread in addition to a couple others.

I am with you.

I preach the gospel of the 77x :D

but if you  say Beats are "crap" ...then you're diminishing the value of your own opinion which is ironically that some folks don't give the JVC the respect they deserve. Your doing the same thing assigning value or lack of value  to a name instead of a particular product for a particular reason.

Beats are over priced. They have improved in toning the lows down enough to hear the mids. I don't think the new Studios have enough Bass now but Beats are not crap. Don't get caught up in that because it is an endless circle and the folks running around in it will never hear anything other than what they want. I paid too much for Beats...or so the JVC's made me feel but the Ultrasones and A.T. and Denons made me feel like the Beats did ...overcharged. None were crap.

If JVC ever did some made for the bass masses marketing and redesign they'd charge us what Beats, Souls, and V Moda do.....then they would'nt feel like the steal we think we got.

If others can't see it let em be.

Who cares what others think.

You wanna talk with folks who think Sony's with rubber balls for ear pads and muddy reproduction have better bass than the 77's? Man that's so ridiculous it hardly warrants a response. Let em be. If they think that is the summit of Mt Bass.....man...just let em be and be thankful you're not them.

Oh my brothers.....my brothers. welcome a new member into the the family.

She doesn't have a single piece of plastic on her. She's gorgeous. Her cushions melt over your ears. She has as advertised a very neutral response and needs coaxing but she represents the full spectrum. I could return her like all the others but she is so beautiful and she sings...

Ever owned Beats pro? That wire tucked neatly in the headband with all aluminum steel construct will seem familiar but Akai/M-Audio did it better

Her cups are the same as the very large 77's

2 hours in note:

I had the +16dB gain on the FiiO e12 switched off because she has a low 16 ohm impedance...was struggling to get bass....very scared. Switched the amp gain to +16 and she's so gorgeous. For 250 bucks the build quality is ridiculous. Not gonna name names but some "Audiophile" cans with plastic all over....that ain't right

Yeah

They seriously think that the skull candy hesh 2 can bring the bass as good as the 77's? They must either be crazy, biased, or not using an amp. Skull candy is slightly a name brand. My friend has them, but they don't even match up to the 55's, let alone the 77's! They are not bad, but they are 10-15$ overpriced in my opinion. Mainly just fashion.
