The Basshead Club - Page 544

An ebay seller is selling a pair of broken DT770 Pro80s. The bid is up to $61, but I doubt it'll go any higher than $70. All it needs is a new cable, or a shorter version of the cable that's on there (resoldering where the break is at). I'm thinkin about buying them, fixing them, and selling them to anyone who's interested.

And he uses from-the-box HD25s as his torture clamp weapon for interrogation.

Hmm I see your point, best to use only tried and tested methods...

Exactly. So, I wouldn't scam him. No, no.

Well, there's going to be a lot of noobs looking at that misleading list as many of them are just lurkers with no account. I would suggest opening a new basshead thread and asking the mods to close this one if you can't update it.

We've tried to get a vote going, but it seems like a lot of work, and these ideas always fizzled out.

Anyway, I do agree that the list needs cleaning (as does mine, which works off of the original list).

We can either -

1) Have votes/general consensus in this thread for current cans that are borderline bassy, or

2) Create a new separate thread, and start a new discussion on cans that need to be included.

This thread is a veritable resource, and I'm almost exclusively posting in this thread. However, the list of basshead cans are not definite by any means. I too agree that the HD25-1 II doesn't necessarily meet the basshead headphone criteria. It is punchy, but has little quantity.

I have a suggestion.  In an effort to respect everyone's sonic preferences, perhaps the list has become TOO inclusive.  While I give huge props to Parall3l for this thread which is one of the most popular on Head-fi and the tremendous effort and commitment to manage the list, it is so large as to be overwhelming for anyone making a reasonable comparison for a basshead can purchase.  Perhaps we could enact a nomination system for removal as well as additions with the initial nomination and 4 additional in agreement (5 total).  While this should also be a democratic process, I believe voters should have "X" # of posts on this forum or Head-fi to avoid random voting/nominations from pranksters and/or newbies who may not yet have the experience to make an informed nomination.   Thoughts?
