Literally find a way to suspend two subwoofers from a headphone headband and then your done. The bass in mental on this ultrasone, and really really enjoyable I must admit.

The bass with the Sig DJ is so satisfying, I don't even have a desire to use bass boost.  It's also the SQ across the range that makes these so special as basshead cans- perfection to my ears.

Popcorn overdose! lol those Dido aren't cheap but they're less expensive than the Sig DJ right? And first time I saw the name my mind placed an extra "L" into it...

LOL

Agree!

The Ultrasone DJs are ALMOST perfect for me, not only as a "bass"-centric headphone, but as an overall performer (I enjoy it with almost all genres). Comfort gets in the way a bit though, and that's where these Perfect Sound D901 come in. I find them MORE comfortable than the Sig DJs and they have an "airy" quality to their top with very good energetic mids AND excellent bass as of now. Can't wait to get home and properly test!

I cannot imagine EQ'ing or setting bass boost to the DJs... I guess I would get a headache fairly quick!

Yes.

They are currently retailing for $780 from Moon Audio.

Sig DJs are like $1000+ new and range from $750 to $900 used, but I Have NOT seen them as much on the boards or on eBay...

LOL!! You have a naughty mind my friend! hahaha I actually thought about the singer... ... guess I'm a Saint! ;-)

Ok... it's official...
Perfect Sound D901 == GREAT BASS!!!

Directly comparing it to the Ultrasone Signature DJ right now... D901 actually sounds MORE energetic in the upper-mids and up. It seems it's more sensitive too as at the same volume Sig lack a bit. (Ok... just double-checked, D901=16Ohm, Sig DJ=32Ohm)

I can definitely say... this is too close to call... Listening to:

Bass response, slam and attack is fairly similar. Vocals are a bit more up-front on the D901s.
Love how both sound here.

Changing gears for a bit, I really like Alison Krauss and the song Sinking Stone is one of my favorites. Again, TOO CLOSE TO CALL! Alison's vocals seem more forward, guitar separation sounds similar to these ears, great vibe, sounds a bit more airy and open... this is probably that bit of detail I mentioned about being more "energetic" up top.

If you haven't heard it by now, Daft Punk's RAM is a really good album. One song I like is Giorgio by Moroder. It's been like almost a month since I had listened to the Sig DJs and, these are the tracks that make you fall in love with these cans...

Anyway, just played it with the D901s... same results!
Bass is explosive, decay is excellent, details just BURST out with energy. It still feels more forward, airier. Again a close call. I've had the D901s for two weeks now I believe and this is really the first time that I'm doing AB compare directly... no question, these are very well made!!!! And, they are definitely basshead material!!

Comfort is definitely better than the Sig DJs (pad situation). BUT after a while I did have to re-adjust a bit... Still not as comfy as your Denon Dxxx wink.gif
They don't clamp as much either. So against the DJs, comfort is a bit better.

They will indeed make my life difficult... (as in... as of now... not sure if I will sell wink.gif)

BTW, I didn't know there was already a review for it:

It seems my views are pretty similar and I guess I had mentioned the kind of "metallic" sound in another thread, reviewer also loves bass response.

Also, Warren's impressions:

So I guess we can introduce these to the list as well... ;-)

Question about the ultrasones. Which is the basshead pair, the sig pro, or the sig dj? Saved up 700 already and don't wanna buy the wrong one and have my holy grail headphone be nothing like I expected lol. One last question are the highs on these big bucks ultrasones the same as the dj1/580? Bc I had to stop listening to those within 3 minutes of buying them. They really hurt my ears.

Dj has more bass than Pro.

You definitely want the Sig DJ.  Also, the highs are extended, yet smooth as silk with zero sibilance- very different than the lower-end Ultrasones.  I listen to mine for up to two hours at a time and I am sensitive to harsh highs.  In purely analytical terms, they are friggin' amazing.

For a basshead, definitely the DJ. For someone who likes bass, but also attaches great importance elsewhere in the sound, then the sig pro. I've had both and have compared both right against each other (this weekend actually). When I feel like a basshead, then I prefer the DJ's, but when I don't then it's the sig pro.

Are the Sig DJs really better than the pro900 or the DJ1 Pros? Really worth the double of the money?

One mans opinion - mine - no. I happen to think the Pro900 is as good as the Sig Pro I had in sound, with definitely much more and better bass, and much better comfort. That was stock. Then I put Alpha pads on the Pro900's and that really made the comfort as good as a Denon phone while improving their isolation. So, obviously, not worth double IMO.

Many won't agree and that's fine. Each of us has opinions and we all matter. I know what my Pro900 does for me. It's has amazing bass, both quantity and quality, and overall is a great all around phone.

Wow.

The ultrasone pro900 is the among the very worst headphone I've ever heard (excluding ones selling in £1 shops). Beats solo and a few awful skullcandy/50 cent/similar headphones compete with the pro900.

The sig pro is probably the best closed headphone I've ever heard.

I actually find rapper cans to have a less offensive sound than the PRO900.
