No.

I found clamping pressure to be Ok.

No stretching would have fixed the pressure on top... maybe adding more padding or something but I'm not a fan of modifying stuff... LOL ;-)

This is just my opinion on a D2K with Lawton mods.

i thank you kindly =] ill search the forums when i get a chance and see what this lawton mod is. maybe search for some old d2000 threads and see if people had any trouble with the treble. for the life of me i cant seem to ease out the dt770s treble peaks, thats my fear with the pro 900 and the d2000 - that theyll be the same way.

i see no reason why i shouldnt get some extra padding from ebay to sort something like that out. cheers

youve both been very helpful - thanks. i think the pro-500 and the d2k are my 2 favorites right now. i look forward to reading up about them when i find the time beyersmile.png

The treble on my pair of Q40 is actually very laid back, and lesser in quantity than M-100. However YMMV as some people have experienced sibilance so perhaps M-Audio's quality control is not that great.

D2000 and D600 aren't far off. D2000 has tighter bass, but D600 has slightly more resolving mids. At current used prices the D600 is a better deal.

From what I have read (not heard personally), the Velodyne V-Pulse should be on your list.

build quality is the one that holds me back on those since i've read alot of reports about the build quality of it...

as i was just telling someone else on this thread recently, the problem with these (v-pulse) is that they give you ALOT of cable noise. if your walking around youll hear a great big bassy THUD with every step. however, its very easy to overcome. i put the left driver in my right ear and vise versa, and have the cable go over my earlobe and hang out from behind my ear. this way, the problem is solved 100%, atleast it is for me...

as far as quantity, i find it very hard to believe any other iem in the price range will be able to compete. not from experience, its just that these things thump! extension is brilliant, going way down under. i eq heavily and im able to get very very loud sub bass when i want to. as far as bass quality goes, the bass isnt nearly as "textured" or "layered" as the m-100s bass, but thats hardly a fair comparison, its just all i have to compare with. i gave my former pair of iems - dtx 101 -  to my brother on permanent loan.

the dtx 101 who arent in your list, are also good in my (very) humble opinion, but they dont have nearly enough quantity to satisfy my demands, and their extension isnt quite where id like it either, again - im a sub bass enthusiast. i know you didnt ask, but i thought i may aswell...

edit: oh btw, i got my v-pulse' on the head-fi for sale forum for ~70$ including shipping. you may want to search around and see if you can get a deal on a used pair. i do think theyre worth 100$ (not that i have alot of experience admittedly), but for 70$ - its a no brainer =]

You can always try reverse-equalizing.

It's basically when you reverse the peaks and dips in the frequency range to make it more neutral.

7kHz would be brought up a dB, 1.5kHz would be brought up around 3.5dB, 2.2kHz would be brought up around 2dB, 3.8kHz would be brought up around 8dB, 5kHz about 4dB, 7kHz down 4dB, 9kHz down 5dB, and 16kHz up 6dB.  I've done a similar thing to my headphones, and I couldn't be any less satisfied. I wouldn't be surprised that if someone were to do the same thing to something like the xb500, you may get a less vieled sounding headphone.

Build quality isn't bad on the vPulse, it's just annoying for active use (walking etc) because of microphonics and because lack of pressure in the seal makes them easy to fall out.

You should add Future Sonics Atrio MG7 and HiSoundAudio Wooduo to your list too.
