The Basshead Club - Page 455

I've been looking for a set of cans with heavy bass that is not overwhelming. Are the V-Moda Crossfade M-100's what I'm looking for? Also, do the m-100's leak at all? I have heard things about other crossfade models having quite a bit of leakage.

Everyone has a different idea of what constitutes "overwhelming" bass but I personally find it not overwhelming at all. AKG K81 and Beats Solo are overwhelming to me because they have are boomy and upper-bass focused. M-100 bass stays nice and low where it belongs.

As for leakage it should be better than the M-80 because it's over-ear as opposed to on-ear. I don't know about the other models e.g. LP as I've never tried them. TBH leakage (outwards) has never been something I've paid attention to, I only care about isolation from outside noise, and on that front the M-100 is pretty decent. Nothing like a custom IEM though biggrin.gif

guys, any suggestion for the Monster Diesel Vektr? :D

I had a brief demo of it in a store. IMO one of the most unique looking headphones on the market. Definitely has some bass to it, but it doesn't hit that low, so I guess people call that a mid bass hump. Treble is pretty rolled off. Mids are average, but unclouded, which I like. Build quality is questionable, but comfort is a step up from the V-Moda M80. All in all, there are probably better options out there, but if you can find a good price, go for it.

I want something with detailed highs and mids, but with bass that can still rattle my cage if you know what I mean.

After further research, I have indeed concluded that the M-100's are the ideal cans for me. Thanks for the help and input.

You won't be disappointed. It definitely is the best mid-fi headphone for bassheads!

Enjoy and let us know how you go and think of it once you've got them wink.gif

Thanks. I purchased it anyway. The 'bass' indeed is so punchy, and boomy, sometimes it does overwhelm the mids, so I had to change to a more treble friendly equalizer, but after that it sounds pretty nice, way better than the SE215 and all other I had! Sorry I don't find the mids as hollow! I know Head-fi has a tendency to hate Sony, but I like it. Still it's not perfect! I wanted the same amount of bass, but without overshadowing the other frequencies, and without any artificial bass.

The JVC you mentioned is no way a bass-head IEM. I like the Yamaha though, but it's more than 2X than the Sony! If I pay that much I should probably get the IE80!

I want the same, but in ear. Any suggestions? 100 bucks will be good, little extra won't bother me much though.

if its a bass heavy iem your looking for, you may want to try the velodyne v-pulse. i got mine used on head-fi for 60-70$ i think. im pretty sure that a new pair will go for just about 100. as far as bass goes - these things are champion! waaaayyyy down into the deep end. sub bass is like a running motor, bass is like a gust of wind basshead.gif

they are very slightly dark to my ears, but i wouldnt go as far as to call the dark per se. put it this way, coming from a pair of dtx 101s, these things are way bassyer, and they are very bass capable as well. i use the eq on poweramp (mobile app) and if i want to i can increase the bass to the point of physical pain. the 101's couldnt do that under any circumstances. for my mobile purposes, the v-pulse are nothing short of brilliant. i dont know what you intend to use these for, but you may want to consider them.

edit: yep, 99$ http://velodyne.com/vpulse-earphones.html

Just found the official Basshead club on Head Fi - YO! ... I think I belong here.

At the moment I am really appreciating the bass on some Tralucent 1Plus2's IEMs. Incredible depth, texture and real punch. No hesitation in saying that if you are after a Basshead friendly IEM then I really don't think you will be disappointed by these.

Genuinely on a level with closed backs.

They go deep...deep as The Squid...

Little growlers that are guaranteed fun.

Thanks mate. I will definitely look into this. I am sure it won't overshadow the other frequencies, the lows and mids especially?

I am on the look for a bass heavy CIEM too, and I think currently the best option (if you are on a budget) is the returning DD1 from cosmic ears, with a bass boosting amp (like a ZO2).

Most CIEMs are BA based and thus can't offer the tactile bass many of us crave. Other options include UM Merlin, Atrio MG6 Pro, Cosmic Ears HY3XB.
