The Basshead Club - Page 431

My Atrio Mg7's have been about completely worn out after 2 years of extensive use.. As far as basshead IEM's, is there anything ($250 or lower)  that trumps the Mg7's yet?

Had but one 20 minute session with the M-100's so really don't feel I had enough time BUT so far I'd say they are the perfect portable phone with excellent bass and sound in general.  Most of my last few days have been dedicated to the also new to me Ultrasone Sig Pro...............yes, got both of them the same day so hard to get time for both.

My use for these will be for working out, running, yardwork fed by a Nano ----> LOD --->C&C BK --->ZO ------> M-100.    Thumping, yes.  Cut the grass Tuesday night with the M-100's and clearly they are a keeper.  Used to listen to the Crossfades...................these are a nice step up.

Just from initial impressions, (i know these will change with time) how does the m100 compare against the pro 900?

Well, that's a no contest.  Pro900 to me wins out in bass big time and overall sound.  I happen to love the Pro 900.  We'll see with more listening time for the M-100.

If you can find them for less than $250, the Monster Miles Davis Tribute is an excellent choice for a basshead.

John Digweed Live in Slovenia > EQu with sub-bass and treble lift > CLAS -dB > ALO Balanced > SR-71B > Sig DJ = tickle-my-ear-wax-giddy

Thats awesome. I guess i'll go with the pro 900 then, as apparently bright highs have no effect on me biggrin.gif thanks btw.

Also, was it kees modded, or stock?

No way man. I owned the Pro 900 twice, and the M-100 once. To me, the M-100 is unbeatable in it's price range. The Pro 900 has ear piercing highs. The 100 is just a better phone all the way around in my opinion.

Stock.

As Cavalli says in next response, SOME people hate the shrill highs - not me.  Maybe it's my 51 year old ears but the highs are one of the best parts of the Pro900 to ME.    As always, not everyone likes everything.  M-100 I look forward to getting to listen to as my portable and they'll get lots of use this summer.

And how do you like the treble of the Signature Pro in comparison to the PRO 900?
I think i've been leaning on the pro 900 anyways :/

My brother in law has a pair of speakers that also have some screeching highs, but as i used to listen to music at 100% (now like 30-50%) volume, sometimes i even MISS harsh treble. In my opinion the hfi 580 has just under the amount of treble i like.

I'm weird, i know ._.

SOME people hate the shrill highs, but not all ;-)

I find the highs of the Sig Pro to be very present still, but dialed back a couple notches from the Pro 900, much more refined, with better extension, detail, and clarity.

It's like a photograph of a beautiful snowy, tree-filled landscape. On the Pro 900, someone turned the saturation all the way up, so it's in-your-face, bright, colors are distorted, etc...

The Sig Pro, the saturation is normal. There's the detail of the crystalline snow that you could not see previously through the distortion of the high saturation of the Pro 900. Everything looks clean, tight, and as it should be.

P.S. I'd like to say, I think age and hearing play a MUCH bigger role than anyone realizes in how we perceive sound.

I have them both, love them both.  Haven't spent enough time with the Sig Pro since I just got them but will A/B them this weekend.   For triple the cost they better sound better.  LOL

Up till I got them, the Pro900 was the top dog in my stable and I have a few good choices (see signature).  They just THUMP better than anything and sound good - not a one trick (bass) pony to me.

I am 53. And the treble of the Pro 900 are a bit too much for me too. So even age is relative regarding to sound preferences.
