The Basshead Club - Page 426

The below is Malevolent's fantastic list

1) ordered by price descending.
2) With very rough classifieds prices where discontinued
3)Split into : $1k+, $500-$999, $300-$500, $200-$300, $100-$200, <$100 and finally any which are difficult!

I spent the time on it to help with my next purchase decision but sharing in-case it helps. beerchug.gif

Note: Its a one off exercise so can't promise to keep updates. Malevolent feel free to incorporate the price descending format into your updates or anyone else who wishes to would be very welcome as its makes it a bit more usable for us beginners who don't know all the models.

$1400 budget, though I'm not sure I'm an audiophile enough to hear the subtle differences between my T5p and DT990's

So let me get this straight, ur going to spend 1400 on a set of cans and not use an amp..???????  They're likely going to sound worse than a ~200 pair.  They won't have the power they NEED.

Of all the currently available portable headphones I've owned, I found the Yamaha Pro 500's the easiest to drive without amp, but size and comfort may be an issue.

T5p was designed to be portable.  They sound mostly the same through my duet 2.  though IDK if you can classify that as an amp??

Is the Sony MDR-XB600 better overall than the XB500? I heard some people say that the 500 was better but I saw the 600 for $50 on clearance at Best Buy but I don't know if it's better to get the XB500.

If it sounds good to you thats all that matters then lol, nevermind my previous comment. Have looked at revies of the LCD? I heard those are pretty good (I wouldn't know personally though. )

I heard the same, though I'm looking for a closed can with little leakage.

I'm mostly happy with my monster inspiration, just wish they were a little more clear and revealing (and wish they didn't need batteries to sound good)

Just wondering but are the Sony MDR-XB300 any good for affordable bass headphones? They look comfortable. Since I' am in a tight budget affordable ones would be best. I can get one around $55 on Ebay.

The Audio Technica WS55 can be found around $65. It would be a much better choice than the XB300. (Btw, $55 for the XB300 is a ripoff. You can usually find the XB500 around that price!)
