Ha! My wallet surrendered the fight when I started this hobby (obsession) just a year ago. It has taken quite a beating so far. 1 more to come before the end of the month. ph34r.gif

So True That!

My possible Tube Amp purchase got turned into a dishwasher this year....

I used to have a nice ride on dishwasher and now there is a portable one plugs in, hooks up to the taps and makes noise... very_evil_smiley.gif

I always use Pete Belasco "Deeper" as my go to bass song to test all my new phones with and to be honest these exceed even my Q40's and I don't have an amp hooked up yet.

For $239 these are a steal, and compared to D2K's with MarkL mods, they are their equal.

I can't wait to burn in, hook up my amps and really test my first impressions.

If you get a chance to test these out, do it. Without a question these are amazing, from the presentation in the package to the sweet cables to the looks and sound. Wow.

I. Am. Impressed.

While I agree the D600 is a good headphone with exceptional midrange detail and bright highs, their bass lacks the punch and depth of the M-100 IMO which is the main reason I returned the D600 and will own the M-100 for life.

For me it's a whole different problem. I'm not sure if it is a whole lot of resonances or just Down right poor soundstage, it sounds boxed in. For that price, craigster is absolutely right, if you want bass, the m100 is pretty hard to beat though other hps do beat it in other aspects but it is a give and take game!

Great, now I have another headphone to buy! mad.gif

Lol, I have always wanted to try the M-100 so guess they will be next unless some other FOTM comes up...........like maybe the WS99........my wallet hates this place but I am loving this! It's easy to justify for me.....I need a portable, a home office phone, a work phone, a head Fi station phone, etc.........

However, there is a chance it is defective cos it sounds plain awful.

What are you referring to being defective?

In not exactly sure maybe just a faulty set because it sounded really boxed in and the salesmen said that it is already burnt in. The sound was like listening to music in a box. Too much resonance? I'm not too sure, and if that is supposedly a working set it can't hold a candle to the m100.

HOWEVER! I have to say that everyone tastes are different and the Ultrasone edition 8 sounded really digitalish to me, I think that it sucks so I might have a strange pair of ears. But I will try them out again when my schedule allows me to do so.

Well if you weren't half a world away I'd say come on over and hear these things. Just A/B/C'd them with the Q40 and D2000 and they all are basshead monsters with the D2000 just not handling the SUBbass as well. Hard to describe but they run out of depth. The D600's have no such limitation, taking all my Magni/ZO can grow at them, on the highest red contour (with a ZO, that is wide open full throttle bass). Even the Q40's don't handle the bass quite as well.

I plan on burning every night for a few days but I sense no improvement "needed" like I hear some say "treble is sharp, etc".

Well I don't own then but merely just auditioned them in the local store. However, will go back down and try them again. Will report back then.

Are that like BestBuy here where they have them hooked up to their source? With your source and portable amp I hope they sound good to ya. They are rumbling on my head right now after a night of AC/DC Back in Black burning through them all night. cool.gif

They were definitely properly powered. I was using a RSA Darkstar and Naim Dac they had in the store. I heard the Darkstar has the ability to bring the Audeze LCD-2 to its max. potential so I guess the D600 is peanuts to it.

However, the D600 bass is great for a basshead, the d7100 has even more bass, slightly drier sounding, much better soundstage.

These are just my brief notes, btw.
