Kind of the all around I've been hoping for.  If they continue to please me like this I will likely never ever sell them.

Remember too, these have the angle pads and MarkL mods to them so they are a cut above a stock D2000, which I have never heard.

I felt the same way about the Denon D2000's. Although they are at a much higher price point, the D2000's were clearly the better headphone. Better mids, brighter highs, bigger soundstage, better comfort, and build quality. To me, Q40's felt and sounded like $100 headphones. Very good bass but the mid range, soundstage, and comfort weren't enough for me. I returned them after a week of usage. This is all IMO.

Only if JRiver supports VST plugins

Edit: and it does.

It's a good deal but the MDR-1R is not a basshead can. Personally I rather buy it from amazon ($198) for their painless return policy. I'm considering buying a pair too.

I read Sony's return policy and it seems rather painless as well. Even less so that amazon because they mentioned that we had to pay return shipping only if there's something missing or something wrong with packaging.

I honestly think it's a good deal at 179$ .... It's between this or the SRH840s/COPs for me. And this looks a billion times better and I can actually wear it outside without looking obnoxious. Is the SQ way off?

I'm not sure what you're trying to ask. You're in the basshead club asking about a headphone that has very little bass.

But yeah, if that's your thing than it's a good deal. Where did you get $179 from?

Just came into a pair of D2ks...makes me think I might still have some bass head in me! They are awesome.

Why does it say the Audeze LCD2 is basshead?
I would quite call them basshead cans.

Sony education store.. 10% off if you're a student.

I'm asking if these have generally worse clarity, bass etc. etc. compared to the SRH840s or the COPs.

I've never tried them so I don't know, that's why I was considering buying a pair. But from what I've read about them, they should be pretty good and they're right up there with the Momentum in regards to clarity and bass.

They extend ridiculously low for subbass. But they have no sort of elevated bass. But the impact is there IMO.

If after bass quantity that does it just right none other IEM bass is as smooth as the FX700's. But if you want something of more higher quality in terms of resolution, clarity and speed and you listen to trance or so, the EX1000 but the fit may put some people off. Other than that nothing else besides the flabby bass of the IE8/IE80's or CIEM's. Yeah and before anyone mentions it the Westone's are inferior to the FX700 for electronic based music.

Anyone know of a headphone that punches as good (or better) than the DJ1, more comfortable, and less bright?  I HATE bright treble...hurts my ears, just like the headphones after a couple of hours.

Yes they are, with awesome mids and highs. I may have found a successor to my Q-40's. biggrin.gif
