Don't you have EQ capable source or what?

AMP will blindly darken the sound without any possibility for manual adjustment and you can only guess which freqs (and how) will be affected.

7th gen ipod classic (rockbox)---------->fiio e11---------->HFI-780's.
have to say i really like them, but i still feel that they are not as bassy as i expected. i was sort of expecting smash-your-face-in-bass, but that was not the case, i guess i just need to lower my expectations :p

Well, I am actually a darkness lover so blindly removing treble is great! I love dark and bassy cans like the LCD-2 and HD650! :) But they don't seem to have enough bottom oomph (bass).

If you want mounds and mounds of bass and a dark sound signature then pro700mk2 is exactly what you're looking for. Bass is executed brilliantly and it also has recessed highs to go with it.

HFI-780s are NOT basshead cans to any extent.

Sorry to derail the conversation but I saw that the left driver on your pro700mk2 broke... funny thing is the same thing happened to me. Wonder if it's a fault with the design? or just some horrible QC

I was modifying them to be open headphones, and when I was resoldering the headphone cable, a little solder ball went through one of the holes and burnt a hole through the driver membrane. My friend has a pro700mk2, and his are fine.

Do the Pro700Mk2 qualify as basshead cans?
