I suppose if you are purchasing $2,000 headphones and your wife isn't kicking you out of the house, owning a Lexus is more fitting.  wink.gif

lawl, most certianly

I have to say I was impressed with the bass on my w1000x, i had my dt 990 TECHNO eq on [and I forgot I had it on] and well I was impressed! Bass was nice an deep, laid back but still very tight and sufficent speed. Well done Ath w1000x you are EXACTLY what I wanted. A CLOSED dt 880 clone [it really is although it's not, the quality is on par with the 880, the sound stage is nice as well, it's slighty bright BUT it has those nice forward mids and those SWEEEET Sexy upper mids, where as the dt 880 has a little THICKER lower mids, the dt 880 still does well with LOW female vocals, the w1000x is a little airy'r and ofc [and most ironically] the w1000x sounds great with clear top tubes and LOW gain, where as that dt 880 is loving my lean but musical solid state op L4990]

non the less, I also find that the w1000x has even BETTER bass without eq :O [eq makes it too dark, the un eq'd bass is perfect tightness and impact. Subtle but powerful, any eq changes the sound to much an bloats the bass, where as the 880 can take eq like a BAWS]

Hey guys, I went to audition the hd650 and they have a superb midbass response. However, one song which I at first thought is a midbass type of song just doesn't have bass, can someone tell me if this song has mid or sub bass? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEhKSc52QqY

It sounds like a cross of rumbling (subbass) and punches (midbass). So is it a mix or which is it? Thanks a lot?

I don't think I'm hearing any sub bass but there's certainly some mid bass thought I wouldn't describe it as thumping. I should add my cans are hardly reference grade and if anything are a little bassy but I'm hearing no sub and not a lot of mid so I wouldn't worry.

Te song sounded bassier on the d5ks compared to the hd650s. Hmmm.....

well I've noticed that lower bit rates r usually slopy bass lines, fatter and bigger as opposed to tighter and faster, so I'm not a big fan of youtube... as it distorts that bass imo <.<

but for a quick refrance it can't hurt <3
