The Basshead Club - Page 374

I am in music nirvana right now! Just got the Project Woodwind ultra portable amp (Review sample), and with my HA-S500s it has SUPER tight bass, with CRISP highs and slightly recessed, yet smooth mids, and a nice soundstage! The bass is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO tight, like IMHO better than than the LCD2.2s in the fact these PUSH air and vibrate, but have the crisp treble I love! biggrin.gif

I am also getting addicted to electronic, but just like you I get to audition so darn many Hps except the sig DJ, Juz to afraid to but smth I don't get to audition . Anak chan and craigster both said it sounds like a more natural edition 8. If this is so, I can audition the edition 8 and expect a more natural version of it? Well, awaiting your impression, bareyb, it seems like the sig DJ don't get as much love here! Th-900 vs Sig DJ would be kinda interesting too!

Okay gopanthersgo1, talk to me...  What's so great about the Th-900. Can it hold a candle to the BASS output of the Sig DJ?  biggrin.gif

It was pretty much a joke, like "Your spending ONLY $1K on an end game rig?!? (Insert trollface.png here) But it did sound SUPER crisp, but I didn't compare it directly to the Sig Djs... frown.gif It sounded real open and was SUPER light.

Oh Great... Now you tell me...

Yes, I bought them. HeadRoom had them in stock and they have a 30 day return window... I figured I would probably never get a chance to have two of the top Basshead 'phones in my possession again, so.... They will be here on Thursday. I really have to stop coming in here late at night.... biggrin.gif

I'm very satisfied with the DJ's and their Bass output is just about perfect. There is a little room for improvement there, but overall they are the best headphones I've had to date. Some of the best Vocals I've heard. Period. I have a feeling the TH-900s may not  have enough Bass OUTPUT to satisfy me, and if that's the case they are going back. I already made that mistake with the HE500s. I don't care how good the quality of the Bass is, if there's not enough of it, I know now I will never be satisfied. If, on the other hand, they can match the output and improve the texture and layering a bit... We'll see. I'm keeping one or the other. Not both. Then I'm done.   wink.gif

Haha! Sorry! You won't regret it though, as now you can see if you should've or shouldn't have gotton the TH900s. wink.gif I found them way better IMHO, but that's just because they had the airy feel I wanted, while still having nice deep clean bass, don't remember the bass too well though, as the whole thing was captivating! biggrin.gif

I'm really looking forward to hearing them and directly comparing them to the DJ's. They were the only headphones left on the planet that I felt had any chance of being better. Still... They would need to be pretty fantastic for me to send back the DJ's. Bass is going to be the determining factor. That's what this is all about.  wink.gif

You know you're a basshead when bass decides if a headphone is worth $1K more than the other... tongue.gif

The board with battery will be out in about a month without a case for $65, and in 4 or 5 months, an amp with a metal case and an ashwood top/bottom will be $85, or you could buy the board and then buy the case seperately when it comes out. There is sadly no volume control as it is an ULTRA portable amp, but might be added in future revisions. It sounds absolutely magical with my HA-S500s, like so good, I don't think I'll get an LCD2.2, but a lighter bass can, as this is ALL I need! Best portable rig I've heard, and cheap too! 4gb white Clip+ ($35) + 32gb MicroSD card ($20) + Woodwind amp ($85 w/ case) + HA-S500z ($60) = Ultra nice, ultra tiny portable rig ($200)! Also, I can only wait until I get my Fiio X3 and the makers of Woodwinds S/PDIF DAC! biggrin.gif

I just read the first post and was surprised the MH1C wasn't in the list. It's by far the bassiest piece of gear I own.
