The Basshead Club - Page 363

Hmmm.... Depends on what bareyb is looking at cos if I rmb the denon Dxxx series and Fostex or slightly sub bass oriented so if he is into electronic he is most likel gearing for mid bass. I am also getting addicted to electronic, but just like you I get to audition so darn many Hps except the sig DJ, Juz to afraid to but smth I don't get to audition . Anak chan and craigster both said it sounds like a more natural edition 8. If this is so, I can audition the edition 8 and expect a more natural version of it? Well, awaiting your impression, bareyb, it seems like the sig DJ don't get as much love here! Th-900 vs Sig DJ would be kinda interesting too!

I'm hoping that will be the case with the Signature DJ's... I honestly don't care how they look (but I do like them). Sexy isn't how I'd describe myself with any brand of headphones on...   biggrin.gif

you know i got my hippo vbs a few days ago and .. to be honest,. after reading all the hype from not only this site but others as well,. i think my expectations got built up waay too high and they didnt impress me like I was hoping they would. I was expecting the bass to hit lower and be more solid and clean and tight... Id say these are just a tad bit better than the atrio m5s i had.

I have not yet tried them hooked up to a z02 or fiio amp however. And for an IEM , the hippos at 32ohms can def be amped better than the average IEM which run at 16ohms.

I find its very hard to get a good seal with these.. i gotta keep tapping on the ends until they hit the sweet spot. Maybe its just my ears I dunno.. I did clean them out thoroughly , so ear wax is not the issue,. its def a bad seal problem with their stock tips. Im using the black double flange one. Considering getting the complys or some other tips which will give me a perfect seal every time, maybe someone knows a good one they can recommend me.

thats EXACTLY how i feel and one of the reasons i avoid headphones.. other than listening to them in your house in privacy of course. But nothing looks more retarded than walking in the mall with huge headphones on..

I am very lucky to audition some of the pretty high end cans in my local store and find that I should share with you guys as some of the cans are pretty Bassy.

Audez'e LCD-2: I was amazed, truly truly amazedby it's level of clarity. Wow man! Anyone looking for clarity this is the holy grail. Oh and the balance btw lush warm sound and the clarity was so good! This would be the can I would buy just if I had more bass. The bass Is tight not prominent enough and quite lacking in quantity.

Audez'e LCD-3: the clarity level actually decreased and then I stopped trying. The bass is rather different but I can put my finger on what is different. I think it is less clear because it is lusher but I didn't detect the extra lushness because I didn't really pay attention. (These cans are way out of my price range!)

Denon D7100- I finally understand why headliners hate them. I assume the bass is too much for most here but I kinda like it and the bass kinda reverberate but it isn't exactly muddy. At first I tot it sucked in Clarity but I realized it was because of its crazy speed. It is actually the fastest I heard today. It is slight harsh but not as bad as the d600 and d5k.

Denon D600- There are less bass than the D7.1k but def. sufficient bass. Clarity level 3/5 with the LCD being 5/5. The bass is not tight but not boomy either.

More impressions soon in my next post. More hps I would be talking abt in my next post: HD650 and Denon D5000.

FYI: These hps were auditioned using a Ray Samuel Audio Darkstar connected to a iPhone 4S using a LOD
Music tested with:
I could be the one- Avicii feat. Nicky Romero
Levels- Avicii
Through the fires and flames-Dragonforce
The gardens of Sampson and beasly-Pink Martini.

My main rig lately are my HE500s. Unless you like giant square earmuffs they aren't a great look. They look kind of cute on my kids though. It makes their heads look even smaller.  biggrin.gif

Maybe you should also concider the new ATH-WS99, these looks to be exceptionally great bass boosted headphones at their price and the quality is explained as very good, better bass texture/control than M100 even with more forward mids. I know I want one of those WS99... too bad it's just available in Japan or China yet.

I meant too much for those neutral-seekers which are found in abundance here in head fi. When I say here I mean headfi not the bass was club. Apparently, the speed of the d7.1k is too much for it too handle making it sound congested and blur. Basically, poor for its price. I heard the d7100 is poor but it seems not many explain why it is so, hopefully this would help some who are unclear abt the d7.1k

Yeah, I had another listening session with the WS99 and the ES700, and the WS99 impressed me more. Bass was strong, but well defined, and the mids was more forward on the WS99 than on the ES700. I think you'll love this headphone, RPG.

Thanks for the nice comparison, bro! What's on top of your list right now?

Denon D5k- Pretty Harsh, making it sound fatiguing too. The bass is very boomy. Clarity is 3/5.

Senns. HD650: mid Bass quantity (More than the LCD-2) is there by more wld be more satisfying (duh). Clarity: 4/5. Gotta giv it to the hd650 that it has a really great price/performance ratio!

Beyer T1: This is THE HARSHEST hps I have tested today. The bass is what I would say neutral accurate bass. Clarity is in btw 3-4, but it's too damn harsh. Sensitive ppl please steer away.

Ultrasone Ed.8- It sound Digitalish and quite unnatural which irritates me quite a bit. The bass is slightly more than the LCD-2 and it is so light it feels like a toy. LoL.
