The Basshead Club - Page 350

Hey guys

im new here. first post.. i joined this site after googling some info on bass IEMs and found this forum and this specific thread and i had to register.

I love my bass just like you guys and im trying to decide which IEM to buy,.. from what ive read the HIPPO VB seems to be the top number one choice.

I have made a purchase from ebay for the hippo vb, the JVC fx3x and I recently listened to the Nuforce NE 600, which for 29 bucks was AMAZING)

im debating also picking up the sony mdr xb90ex which i heard is great too..

althought I did not read all posts in this thread,.. and many of the ones i read were from 2011,.. since time has passed, maybe there are new contenders or champs in the BASS department? if so can you guys tell me which ones to look into?

Also, for some weird reason, I find even the cheap 30 dollar IEMs sound WAY better than 500 dollar over the ear headphones.. the bass is just way deeper, tighter and louder. I guess because the seal is better and it goes diretly into your ear canal?

also if u guys could help me with finding a good amp.. i was looking into the fiio amps , i won an ebay bid for a fiio e7 (not the upgraded e07k andes) is that a good amp or should i get something else? i dont even know what the difference is between the e7 and e07k..

also ive been looking into replacing my ipod 4g cuz i HATE the eq settings and no bass boost feature and they are just soo weak in terms of pushing out power.. i was thinking about getting a cowon j3 or s9 but i dont know which is the better of the two or if i should get something completely different..

anyhew,.. thanks for all your help guys

Grab a fiio E11 to amp your headphones with and add a nice amount of bass and/or grab a zo2 for god mode bass. Skip the hippo vb they are outshined by pretty much everything now. I'd say go for the xb90ex, vpulse, cks77, or the fxz200 (my vote), for a nicely priced basshead paradise.

hey thanks for the reply..

damn man i just paid for the hippo vb on ebay.. its still on its way from korea.. i guess i should refuse the fedex guy when he hands it to me..

i was debating a lot between the hippo vb and the sony xb90ex and the vpulse.. are u sure the hippo isnt that good anymore compared to those? is there a considerable difference? im looking for DEEP, tight, clean LOUD bass.. i wanna be able to hear all the different frequencies of bass just like a car sub..  i always thought from what i read that hippo vb was the king of bass and beat out vpulse and cks77 ... havent looked into the fxz200 yet tho i will do that now..

and is the e70k decent? isnt it better cuz it has a dac as well? whereas the e11 is just an amp?

Has anyone compared the 700mkii, dt770/80, xb500, fidelio l1, m100, ue6000 and momentum.
I have the xb500 and dt770/80. I would ideally like the sub bass of the 770 but with more relaxed highs, the 770 has a peak around 7-10khz which I would like my next set of cans not to have. What can has gobs of sub bass?

Maybe the Q-40 by M-Audio.  They handle anything I can throw at them.

I'm not expert when it comes to basshead IEMs, but the Hippo VB is renowned for its excellent bass. Check out some review threads on Head-Fi for more information - 1, 2, 3.

From experience, the PRO700MK2, XB700 and XB1000 have very good sub-bass extension. The M-100 is pretty decent in its bass presentation as well, but it loses out to these 3 in sub-bass delivery.

For me, the DT770 has good punchy bass that is unfortunately tarnished by its sharp treble that sounds too sibilant to me.

Anybody know if/where you can find ultrasone signature dj in Amsterdam?

Or point me to a store where I can audition headphones there.

Thx.

Agreed, I've not tried the Pro 700MK2 [MAN i want to hear it] or the xb 700 BUT I like my modded xb 700 very much. It's got enough sub bass to eat ur ears <3. The highs are nice on the xb when you mod them and ofc the mids don't exist lol[a tube makes it a LITTLE better but not much]

idk about audition, but you don't have an Amazon in Amsterdam???  They have almost every single headphone I've seen someone mention here.

Based on the description of your preferred sound, you REALLY want to hear the M-100.

Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong but the M100 basically trashes the momentum and dt880 in bass region (quantity) not sure about

quality though. Yet heard the rest. The hps were compared in stock condition without amps or mods.

EDIT: Didn't notice the sub bass part. My views above were about midbass.

I keep on seeing you guys refer to mid-bass. What frequency range does that pertain to?

Well, I don't live in Amsterdam, but I might be there for vacation soon. I don't know if amazon will deliver to a hotel, and if they do, I don't know if it would be a good idea.

Has anyone orderd from amazon to a hotel?

If possible, I'd like to just get them in a brick and mortar store.

About 80-150Hz especially, this range adds "punch" to the bass, important for house, well EDM music in general. Some people would say 80 - 250Hz but I'd rather talk about upper-bass past 150Hz because it's more like a sound at that point.
