@ adamlr: Yeah, I've tried everything. I believe that when I use the L7 the E17's amp is still being used somehow, and that's limiting me on how much I can boost the bass (I've also played with the LO bypass switch on the side to no avail). I really can't get the bass louder than what the fiio e17 is able to pump out by itself. Wherever the E17 starts clipping when I use it as a standalone dac/amp, Magni clips at the same volume level (for the bass) when I hook it up to the line out on the E17.
I broke my toslink cable, so I'm waiting for my other one to come in Thursday or Friday, so I'll see how it sounds like when I use my receiver's dac (computer->toslink->receiver->rca line out->magni). I can't believe that retail stores charge $25 for a freakin cable. I got the same thing on Amazon for like $2.
well i hope it works out. if you find out what the problem is - please share
not quite what i was thinking of, nevermind =]

Austin meet was fantastic, SoundFreq is a great guy, I loved the TH900s out of his Liquid Fire, and we had a few small conversations, he seemed to enjoy the JVC HA-S500s for a cheap portable Bass Head phone, the M100s looked sexy, and had some REALLY nice bass, a lot more than I expected for what people called neutral, the XB1Ks were GINORMOUS (SoundFreq, I DARE you to wear them in public!), but are super comfy. The TH900s were also a lot lighter than I imagined. SoundFreq is DEFINATELY a bass head, all of his headphones are bassy, along with a tube amp, and any song he has is electronic, trance, DnB, Hip Hop, and some metal!
oh gawd.... well Sound and I might have to try each others Xb's some time. I just spent 5 days FIGHTING my damn internet provider so I
'm now BACK ON LINE, but I don't want to SHIP ANYTHING ANY WHERE... still one of these days I'll meet him in person.
Sadly I'm not a bass head... more of an audiophile since my first can was BASS HEAD and every can after was more neutral xD. Still the dt 990 is my end game bass can [till I get the LCD rev 3 <3] so I like it's balance and big bass.
I'm hoping the mad dogs will have a touch more bass than my dt 880s. As I LOVE my dt 880s with certian mega tight dub step!

Anyway folks, do you think it's time to clean up the headphones recommendation list? This is from my list, which is referenced from Parall3l's post on the first page. I have added a few which I think are good basshead cans. If there are some headphones that you feel should be added to this list, please do share them with us! Remember, there is no such as thing as too much bass!
Great compilation, but I think it would be more helpful if organized by price rather than brand. So people in different budgets can compare their choices.
