Well guys, it looks like my next headphones are going to be the Audio Technica Pro 700MKII. I have the M Audio Q40's but they have now broke twice in a months time. First the left driver cut out so i sent them back and got a new pair, now after only after a week the right driver has blew on these new ones. I'm really pissed off right now. I absolutely love these headphones but I can't buy them again after this. So it's going to be 2 weeks without headphones until I can save for the Audio Technica's. :(

Not a bad choice on headphones. Just keep in mind that those headphones are pretty uncomfortable. It takes about two weeks for the headband to break in, and you need to get some better earpads for them because they are VERY uncomfortable paired with the tight clamping force. Since I can't really recommend the Beyer gel pads anymore (can't find any in stock except direct from Beyer for $52), the M50 pads or the DT250 pads are good alternatives.
I don't know what type of amplification you have, but these headphones will need it in order to get the bass out, and they scale very well with equalizing.

No matter how good a headphone is, I think some people are always on the lookout for something new.. to recapture that feeling of listening to a "new" sound, or simply to get the feel of having a different headphone.
Hello all,
I got my M-100's and they are cool. I paired them with a e17 and that made them much better. Might double amp to get a little more bass. I also ordered the S4's and I forgot I had the amp turned all the way up (gain on 12) and they blew out in about half a second. Not really worried about the S4's because you make mistakes. But long term can the M-100's handle all the amping? 45-55 volume, bass 10, gain 12.... I havent had a lot of time to play so not sure what the settings will end at. Also I left the e17 pluged into a usb phone charger overnight and it didn't take the charge. Can these only charge by usb computer port?

FYI, the PRO 700MK2 is a much darker headphone, but they are certainly durable.
+3 regarding the M50 pads as almost a necessity for good comfort.
Need a pair of full sized cans and a dac/amp combo (sth like E17) for Rap, Hip/Hop,Electronic music. Budget 400$. Your suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, stuff happens. Quality control is never perfect, and with the multitude of FiiO products being manufactured, the proportion of having a DOA is greater than someone like JDSLabs. For instance, FiiO may make 5000 E17's with 1% of that 5000 being faulty (50 bad). JDSLabs may make 500 C421s with the same percentage, but only have 5 actual products that are bad. In other words, the probability that you will get a DOA will be higher with products that are produced in masses larger than competing companies that produce products in lesser quantities, but the proportion of bad units is still the same, more or less.
I've had my E17 since last April, and I haven't had any problems with it, besides the tape mod I did to fix the headphone jack (the shield covering the headphone jack came loose, so I put some tape on top of the shield and smashed it with the backplate so it wouldn't move anywhere).
Personally, anything is better than the HFI-780s, even my coby earbuds. Very uncomfortable, no bass, unnatural treble, fake sounding soundstage, recessed midrange, headband pad falling off, earpads cracking, cheaply made, etc. Everything about this headphone is bad, and I wouldn't recommend it to nobody. It's THE worst purchase I've ever made.
It seems to be a problem of late. Like they had a bad batch or something.
