I had a pair of 700mkIIs and I do think they need some worm ojt of the box. I put some M50 pads on them and put them around the arm of my couch to stretch them out overnight. They went from horribly uncomfortable for me to completely fine. I actually miss those cans...

No matter how good a headphone is, I think some people are always on the lookout for something new.. to recapture that feeling of listening to a "new" sound, or simply to get the feel of having a different headphone. smile.gif

Hello all,

I got my M-100's and they are cool. I paired them with a e17 and that made them much better. Might double amp to get a little more bass. I also ordered the S4's and I forgot I had the amp turned all the way up (gain on 12) and they blew out in about half a second. Not really worried about the S4's because you make mistakes. But long term can the M-100's handle all the amping? 45-55 volume, bass 10, gain 12.... I havent had a lot of time to play so not sure what the settings will end at. Also I left the e17 pluged into a usb phone charger overnight and it didn't take the charge. Can these only charge by usb computer port?

First the left driver cut out so i sent them back and got a new pair, now after only after a week the right driver has blew on these new ones. I'm really pissed off right now. I absolutely love these headphones but I can't buy them again after this. So it's going to be 2 weeks without headphones until I can save for the Audio Technica's. :(

FYI, the PRO 700MK2 is a much darker headphone, but they are certainly durable.

+3 regarding the M50 pads as almost a necessity for good comfort.

Thanks. I see you have the 780's how do they stack up against the M100s or even the 580's?

I am still open to suggestions

My E17 came DOA  (Not charging) and after reading about it that seems to be a problem with that model. I had this same combo M-100 paired with a E17.

Well, stuff happens. Quality control is never perfect, and with the multitude of FiiO products being manufactured, the proportion of having a DOA is greater than someone like JDSLabs. For instance, FiiO may make 5000 E17's with 1% of that 5000 being faulty (50 bad). JDSLabs may make 500 C421s with the same percentage, but only have 5 actual products that are bad. In other words, the probability that you will get a DOA will be higher with products that are produced in masses larger than competing companies that produce products in lesser quantities, but the proportion of bad units is still the same, more or less.

I've had my E17 since last April, and I haven't had any problems with it, besides the tape mod I did to fix the headphone jack (the shield covering the headphone jack came loose, so I put some tape on top of the shield and smashed it with the backplate so it wouldn't move anywhere).

Personally, anything is better than the HFI-780s, even my coby earbuds. Very uncomfortable, no bass, unnatural treble, fake sounding soundstage, recessed midrange, headband pad falling off, earpads cracking, cheaply made, etc. Everything about this headphone is bad, and I wouldn't recommend it to nobody. It's THE worst purchase I've ever made.

It seems to be a problem of late. Like they had a bad batch or something.

I have a friend wanting an EDM can. Going to do a straight Pro 900, M-100, XB1000 shoot out. Should be fun.

Can anyone comment on the GR07 bass edition? They've caught my attention as I'm looking to downgrade from my FXZ200, which might sound weird but I only use IEMs at work now and the FXZ200 are just not discrete enough. Also considering ultimate ears for the replaceable cable....

Need a pair of full sized cans and a dac/amp combo (sth portable like E17) for Rap, Hip/Hop,Electronic music. Budget 400$ for both. I like good amount of bass controlled and tight yet not too overwhelming the highs should not be ear piercing(like my Mg7s). Your suggestions would be appreciated.

Regards,

Bump, Anyone?

V-Moda M-100

Yamaha PRO 500

E17 sounds good.  Budget will be tight, but is doable with sale pricing to find both for $400 total.
