These are what I am leaning towards... I wanted to give it a day to let different people speak on it though.

I have the CKM500, and a friend of mine has the S4, and thy are pretty comparable from memory, bit the price is a huge difference, the S4 being almost twice the price.

So as I said a few days ago, I got the ZO2 and E11 a few days ago and the together with an rockboxed ipod it sounded like complete ****. I messed with a bunch of configurations with hardware and also the software EQ and could not get anything to sound clear. Everything was super muddy.

To make a long story short, I just realized that the ipod was stuck in a weird EQ setting and was not resetting to flat when I chose this option. After a reinstall of rockbox and making sure all the settings were flat, I finally got this sounding good. the ipod/ZO2/E11 with TMA-1s thump...

Now I just need to find some decent priced IEMs that will sound the same for the gym...

What do you guys think has the best bang in the sub $300 range, new or used, for bass heavy music in the IEM category?

Thanks for all the help!

S4 served me my first bassy experience. Turn the Sony clear bass up all the way, put a fiio onto that sony dap, and plug the S4 into your ears and put on some sub bass heavy dubstep. Can't say I've found that experience ever again after that. Overall, I found the s4 to be decent iems.

How do you have them hooked up/set up?  I tried every config possible before I got it right.

Put ZO into high gain mode and put it into RED contour (max bass)

Put E-11 on NO bass EQ and have your iPod/iPhone/iPad feed into E-11 first via LOD (absolutely crucial it is not fed via headphone out).

You then go into ZO and out of ZO to headphones.  I use an EQ app like Equalizer or EQ10 to fine tune.  iPod EQ is awful.

E-11 is your volume control now in this setup.

You can always turn down the ZO (like a bass head ever would) if the bass craps out due to headphones unable to keep up but start with it on deep red contour.

This setup is nirvana to sound quality not to mention a bass heads dream.

I tried them every way possible. Then I found out my goofy EQ problem. Now I have I have it just like you said and it sounds great. It was just a software issue...
