They are as good as the AKG K167 but with 10x more bass. Like +20db or so.

EDIT: They lacked a bit of clarity, I've just modded them, they're now so clean and trasparent and the bass still smashes my face like the XB500 (well, even more and its MUCH tighter).

The bass doesn't bleed into the mids, mids and highs are crystal clear, with excelent resolution ala K167/K701. Isolation is second to none, even more than the AKG K167's. This new technology from SONY (Advanced Direct Vibe Structure) is nothing but stunning. Best basshead phones I have ever heard. Let's give them some 50 hours now. If they improve even further, is a dream come true for just 129€. The bass quantity/punch blows the RHP-10's out of the water.

Do they have any high end?

Can you link to the thread? And what does the mod do to the bass? Are they bassier than the XB500's? These look perfect for what I want if it does highs well also, but bass being #1! xD

High end is staggering after fine tuning it. K167/K701 levels.

I'm really wanting to get XB500's as they're over ear, and should have great bass, and I want to get them before they sell out! biggrin.gif

Those are too muddy. It's just bass. No mids and treble. Get the 800 instead. Talk to ya tomorrow. Need some sleep.

Anybody know the best basshead IEM near a $100ish.

Mainly want good isolation, bass and build quality.

I am currently looking at the Atrio MG7, XB90 EX and CKS77. A

Any suggestions?

EDIT: I can stretch my budget up further, but this will be for casual listening outside, when I won't be able to listen to all the little things.

Velodyne VPulse is supposedly excellent in that price range.

For those who are curious to how the xb800s might sound like, i uploaded a video in their bass, though i know this has nearly no representation to how it sounds like, it kinda gives a gist of how the bass and sound is like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7B0cokTLDvk&list=UUSU1Hj0m6TScoFD726rxP5g&index=3

Dude, get a second opinion about the XB800 from a more reliable source. Better yet, go to your local Target, they should have the XB800 for testing.

CKS99.. If you use Tenso Forwarding service on Amazon Japan you can get the CKS99 for $86 and Tenso will charge like $15 to get to you so $100 Total. Try it out. The CKS99 and CKS1000 are advancements in the CKS earphones using dual air chambers for the deep bass and sound on em. The XB90EX has some serious sub bass. Bigger than the FXZ200 but has some rolled off highs that make em sound a bit too smooth on some tracks. The Atrios has great sub bass but is lacking in instrument separation and definition in the sound as a whole with smallish stage, the Vpulse lack refinement in the mids to really enjoy too much which leaves the CKS earphones. AT aint kidding around with their new CKS earphones. Why not try the new one.

The CKS1000 is a tremendous earphone by the way..A very nice high end bass earphone. Get your detail and 3D projection with your big bass. I am sure the CKS99 will be a nice little upgrade to the CKS77 and will cost less than them if you use Tenso. .
