I'm still leaning towards the HiFiMAN HE-400 at the moment. From what I've taken away from reading the forums, is that the DT 990s have similar characteristics to the DT 880s with more bass. But the HE-400s characteristics are completely different. Though I have read some people mentioning the DT 990s have more bass than the HE-400s.

I have it narrowed down to these two headphones currently (as always this could change in seconds tongue.gif), now I just need to decide if I want to sacrifice some bass for a completely different headphone.

If thats true that the he400 have less bass than the dt990's than I don't want to buy the he400... I found the dt990's to be very bass light... IMHO.

Don't forget the ATH Pro700mk2, Ath Ws55, beyerdynamic Dt770Pro, and many more. With your price range my man? It's almost impossible to choose.

Anything in particular you are looking for? Portability? Efficiency? Looks? Preferences?

Over-Ear? On-Ear? Detachable cable? Any amps? Is sound leakage a problem? We've got a lot of work to do.

Has anyone heard the Skullcandy Mix Masters? Please dont just blindly bash. I heard they were pretty decent.

I am wondering if they are basshead phones and if they are worth $160 for a pair of new ones?

Well if they're $160 then that's a whole new ball game my friend. I have heard that they lack a little bit of bass, but don't take my word for it.

Woah woah woah. I really need someone to either point me in the right direction, or explain to me here.

Beyerdynamic has this crazy array of Tesla cans that I frankly find overwhelming.

I can choose between the DT770, DT880, and DT990... The PRO versions of them, and three different ohm loads between them all... and they all sound different.

So is there like a chart somewhere around here that I can't seem to find that explains the sonic strengths and weaknesses of all these Beyers?

I want over ear, comfort, preferably no amp, but i might get the fiio e11 if i go with the dt770.  The 770 has peaked my interest recently.
