I know it's not a basshead heaphone, but I rather get opinions from bassheads

I'm coming back to the Basshead Club!

I found a pair of Hippo VB with less than two hours use on ebay for $10.00!! So I'm back in with ma Cowon S9 and Mach3bass! I'll get some pics of them and give impressions of how they pair next week sometime.

The Hippo VB? They punch as much as the XB500. But mids and treble are horrible though :p

I've had them before, I know what I'm in for. They will be used for quick brutal bass sessions only! cool.gif I also know they can have channel imbalance issues, so I'm 50/50 on my 10.00 purchase!

Can someone point out the differences between downtowns and xb500s?

Trying to decide between the two.

Crossfade LP are $75 on Amazon... Not sure how good of a deal this is...

So I own a pair of HFI 580's which I really enjoy. But I find that I need to turn up the bass on my fiio E17 to 10 in  order to really enjoy them when listening to electronic music of any sort. Are there any headphones with the same sort of detail that the 580's have but with more bass that you can feel? I would basically like some headphones that I don't need to tweak to get the bass I want on a regular basis. I have considered the Pro 900's, but from reviews I have read the bass difference isn't significant enough to warrant the price increase.

It should be roughly what they should have costed from start, at beginning they were $199 and people frowned upon the sound quality, at $75 it's more in-line whit what it should cost.

Yep, I went ahead and got myself an LP. At that price, it's a very good deal. smile.gif

As promised my 10.00 auction won Hippo VB arrived today!

There's no channel imbalance! The left side has driver flex but it's fine for use, the previous owner left grotty dried earwax smeared all over the meshing! It's been a while since I heard them but after cleaning them up that same sound came rushing back instantly. I loaded up one of my favourite tracks I loved VB with and let it rip +10 BBE + 10 Mach3bass and BOOM greeted with thumping sub-bass rumble! The little beasts shaking around in my ear canals as they used to. Unfortunately not being a dedictated bass-head anymore I got a headache pretty quickly. The mids and highs sounded so bad,.....lol

But for $10 you won't find better sub-bass out there, pure authority!!
