The new XB cans seem to be quite poorly received. On looks alone, I wouldn't say they are a step apart - they are more like a step sideways in terms of design. The outgoing XB series was crazy sexy in its own right. The new cans take a different route; still pretty, but you're going to miss those nice pillows.
I hope they sound just as bassy as the older XB series. I'm not really expecting much in the way of clarity for Sony's famed Extra Bass line. I just want what the tag says - MORE BASS.
Hopefully, I'll be getting my hands on the 200/400/600 this week. I'll leave some impressions once I get them.

yup i had a chance to hear them a didnt like them, i can give them they had MORE BASS but more midbass and a subass that roles off very quickly, they sounded very slow and VERY coulered sound mids were non exsistent treble was ok, they were very masked on clairty probally becuse of the amount of mid bass, an EQ didnt help either

aww, yea that sounds ptetty bad, but why was he taking it apart... MODDING a Byerdyanmic can kinda defeats the pourpose of buying them imo
Yea I don't like Closed Headphones that much any more [maybe there's open driven IEMS] in addition they are very un comfortable to me >.>
Hey bud so I got the M5's and with the proper burn-in I can say for sure that these are better than the Velodynes. Definitely get these, especailly since there's a discount on them so they're only $100 : D!!!
Now I have a question. I'm hunting for some cheaper but good over the head headphones. What do you think I should get? the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro headphones ($150) or the Logitech UE 6000 ($200) or the M-Audio Q40's (around $200) ?!?!?!
Thanks
Anoob
I bounce around the states/canada. I'm a dual citizen. Also, I probs won't use them on the go, mainly at home. I got the M5's for the gym : D
Thank you for your reply Prak

As long as you dont plan on using them outside they are excellent. Thry do benefot a lot from amping though.
The DT770 pads improve comfort a lot, And another option is to stuff something behind the stock pads. Initially the clamp may seem like a lot but stretching -them out realluy mitigates the problem.
Q40-$120
E11/ZO2-$50/$100
DT770 pads- $30
Depending on he amp the whole rig could be either 200 or 250 usd
The only reason I would not want to use these outside is because they stick out a lot from your head and it looks a bit silly IMO.

Not specifically a single basshead headphone, but over the last month or so during my absence from here, I've had the opportunity to listen to almost all of the available headphones on the market today (only 4 major ones I haven't heard is the HE90, L3000, 010 and R10, but they are discontinued either way) as well various tube rolling.
One rig combination that has not failed to impress on the quality, control and depth of bass reproduction would have to go to a slightly modded Darkvoice 336SE with Raytheon JAN 6080WC and RCA smoked glass 6SN7 based tubes to a slightly modded FA-011 > through any good DAC source with FLAC music library. For anyone into quality bass (without smearing the details away from the highs and treble range) either from rap, rnb or electronic music, this combo will not fail to impress, blows my LCD2 combo off my favourite list by a long shot.

Hey Def I`m pretty noob so I have no idea you`re talking about with the tubes and the amp. In fact, I Googled Darkvoice 336SE with Raytheon JAN 6080WC and RCA smoked glass 6SN7 and none of these things arre headphones .. lol I don`t even understand why you guys have to buy separate amps. Can`t you just use your home stereo amp for the headphones??? You know, something like this --> http://www.ebay.com/itm/Denon-DRA-697CIHD-Open-Box-AM-FM-HD-Radio-Multi-Zone-Stereo-Receiver-/150874759871?_trksid=p2047675.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D3213138009261728909%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D130789402342%26
Thanks.

@Anoob - The Q40s need amping and the bass boost on the 2 amps I mentioned really helps it out. Its still within your budget so try it out and if you think it isnt worth it, return it.

Lol indeed they are not headphones. In some cases an amplifier can provide a night and day difference (subjectively saying) but you should get the idea, with tube rolling or opamp rolling you can get different characteristics from these in the same amp simply but swapping and changing for another. If you choose to go down the path of audiophilia you will soon grasp knowledge of what I'm saying. There is whole lot of reasons as to why you would want to amp your headphones, but to keep things OT, your best bet is the search button on these boards.
Happy listening.
