Well, the Reloops are brand new and does not sound as good as the Focal's and Philips did on open box.  The bass on the Reloops remind me of the Denon D1100's but a little softer and just      as boomy.  The L1's bass is pretty big itself but much more controlled than the Reloops.  The Focal's bass is nice and tight.  Not big by any means but there's plenty there to satisfy all but the biggest basshead.  The Focal's have the most sparkle in the trebles, followed by the L1's.  The Reloop's sound very dark, it definitely needs a treble boost.  Vocals do not sound all that great on the Reoops, it's definitely recessed compared to the other two.  Focal's mids are forward, L1's actually sound a row or two back compared to the Focal's.  I prefer the L1's mids over the Focal's and Reloops don't compare.  Overall, the Focal's are the livelier set and has a good balance in the overall sound, the L1's are sort of laid back and lush, very easy to listen to.  The Reloops right now don't get my vote but I'll burn them in aggressively and see.

Please share more details on how they sound later :P Do you have perhaps experience with any of the headphones in my signature?

Hi I'm currently using a ath cks50 and a m50. Looking for new earphones to replace my CKS50. Been looking at afew earphones and narrowed down to ATH CKS77 and Shure SE215. Any thoughts on my selections? Would love other recommendations too. Budget would be around the 2 earphones that i've mentioned. I would prefer something with the bass of my CKS50 but with more clarity. Will the CKS 77 be better than a SE 215?

Using a cowon J3 as my source with no amp. Flac files

I haven't tried the SE215 but I do own the CKS77. IMO for the price the CKS77 is a great IEM. At first I had fit issues but since I have tried the Meelec's balanced tips it is all great now biggrin.gif

Overall I would price the CKS77 a lot higher than what they sell for.

As well as far as I am aware after the CKS50 the SE215 would be lacking bass.

I would suggest you ask in the ATH-CKS77 thread about the comparison between the two.

I just auditioned AMG K550 and IMO they should be removed from the basshead club.  I have a big head and the cups are so big it is impossible to get a good seal.  As a result, these oversized cans sounded thin and lifeless.  Vocals were decent, but among the WORST I have ever heard for bass.

Anyone else feel the same way? I haven't heard them so I won't be deciding.

I would like to replace the AKG K550 with the  Pioneer SE-MJ591.  This is the first basshead-worthy supra-aural headphone I have heard.  They have a warmer, dark signature, but the bass from these surprised me in a good way.

AKG550 is not a basshead can.

I agree about the inclusion of the Pioneers.

I also vote for the addition of the Aiaiai TMA-1. They are certainly a real fun basshead can. :)
