The Basshead Club - Page 89

yeah but they aren't that comfortable...as the edges aren't smooth, they make my ear itchy after a while.

squeeze them until they are tiny, insert and presto no scratching but I use Shure soft foams.

After a while the foam expands in your ears and thus its when its not so comfortable for long periods.

A dilemma so maybe a custom earphone will be best.

Not good for my wallet...NOT GOOD

Why not Future Sonics or Merlins?

MG6pros are much bigger with the medium vent and with the big vents it is much wider and bigger. The MG6Pros are a lot bigger then their universals.

Understood I am broke buying two of them and pre ordered the DX100. Gonna do some over time now. But there are many improvements on the customs over the universals so much improvements that comparing a universal to a custom earphone is very unfair.

Hey

I noticed the Ultrasone DJ 1s werent on the the Basshead Headphones list. Is it because they arent bassy? Or did you just forget to add them?

They are bassy. The reason they weren't added is because they are the same as the HFI580

Every earphone has bass but not everyone earphone can be a bass head earphone.

It's weird. While I think the Koss PRO4AA (vintage model) seems bass light in a way - they certainly seem to move more air than any of my other headphones. The bass is certainly felt, almost to a nauseating degree, but it's not heard as well as on the D2000.

These are just my initial thoughts. I'll have to fix these babies up for real before I can make more judgment upon them. They seem to respond well to EQ:ing as well.

Edit: after running some bass testing tracks .. wow, these are just nuts. It's like:

No EQ - bass light in comparison to Pro 900 and D2000

EQ - so. much. air. moving. please. let. me. breath.

Edit 2: These really need a good isolation in order to make the bass sing. As soon as they start leaking somewhere, the bass feels anemic. The bass is VERY much dependant on their isolation.. It's not that weird though, but they are more sensitive to this than other headphones in my stable.

On a sidenote: I need to order new cushions/earpads for these things. The current ones are the original ones and are very bad..

Edit 3:

So after running a few tests (remember these don't even have full seal due to old earpads) these are definitely on par with the D2000 and Pro 900's when listening to heavy bass hiphop. These have a slightly sharper treble and a little more "congested" feel to the sound, not at all airy like the D2000. But bass wise, these should definitely be called basshead cans (note bene: when EQ:ed!). I'm kind of wondering whether older cans usually have a slightly more emphasis on bass than newer cans, in general.

Dubstep is actually very good sounding on these.
